For those that have been and dropped off and collected.....is parking OK at school? We are driving down from the north!

And the parents showing says to be there at 9am.....does it start at that time? And again is parking OK?

Parking was absolutely fine for us at drop off and for the parents showing. The lessons started at 10am on the showing day for week 1, we were told to be there for 9.30.

Does anyone know what time the online classes are on the Sunday usually?

Last year there were several classes and we were able to swap to one that was a better time for us. There was a 9-10.15 and also an 11-12.15 that we knew of.

  3. My daughter got a straight no in year 4, SWL and online associates in year 5 (the online classes were excellent) and a very sweet yes for year 6 today! So a no really is not yet! Well done to all the yeses today and hope the not yets aren’t too disappointed. 😊

  4. I’m pretty sure that the NYB staff mentioned that they were rearranging the age groups - so it could be that the current year 7s will all be in the junior group. Their production is going to be fantastic - Ameliaranne and the Green Umbrella - which has a number of main roles (my daughter did the summer course last year when they developed a few scenes for it). So maybe check in with them before you decline the place? And the ‘little ones’ aren’t that bad! My 10 year old has made lots of older friends that she loves dancing with at LCB and summer intensives such as Malvern when they’re all dancing together.

  5. @Shellym - no worries, if you have any other questions then do just ask. Ideally you do their makeup and hair before they arrive for the performances - it’s foundation, blusher, brown eyeshadow, mascara and eye liner. They have a parents meeting as the performances approach to go over all the details.

  6. Congratulations! My daughter has loved the two EYB performances she’s taken part in. Yes - own kit for all rehearsals: leotards and tights, quite a lot of them wear wrap skirts too. For the performance they’ll need tights and shoes - if not en pointe they like them to wear satin shoes with ribbons for the performances (you’ll likely need a couple of pairs as the theatre floors are often filthy!) Other helpful items are nude coloured leotard/body stocking to wear under the costumes and a dressing gown to wear between dances at the performances - lots wear a satin type one rather than a thicker towelling/fleece. Hope that helps!

  7. Hi! Has anyone else applied to an American summer intensive and managed to navigate the vaccination requirements? My 10 year old has been accepted to the ABT young dancers workshop in New York, but there is a requirement to be fully vaccinated to enrol (which unfortunately she is not as too young). I have emailed to see if there is anything flexibility and awaiting a response. Anyone else in this position? Anyone planning to attend the virtual course again this year (I know quite a few UK students did last summer)?

Thanks for your reply - so, in your view, we should prioritise the Associate programme over EYB?  First-timers on both fronts!

We recently had a similar clash with EYB in Crawley - we missed the associates class on the first and last EYB weekend of rehearsals and arrived late for the middle two as went to associates. Hopefully if your associate classes are only every fortnight you shouldn’t miss to much. EYB very understanding.
