My DD is going into year 6 and is a reserve at northern for juniors as well as being a reserve for CAT. I’m not sure if they split the junior associates group at northern but hopefully if a soon to be year 6 got a RBS JA place then they might take it in preference to northern? Maybe not? The classes are on different days so some may do both.
I have everything crossed for my DD but I’m not holding my breath!

I heard from a friend with a DD in CAT already that current students have to accept their offers to continue next week. I‘m hoping that means there could be some movement for CAT? Plus RBS year 6 JAs got their places this week which might mean some movement for associates.
All very much wishful thinking though. I’m clinging on to a vague glimmer of hope!

Hi All,
Now that the deadline to accept places has past, I wondered if any of the reserves had heard anything about places coming through? For both CAT and Associates.
Wishful thinking?

Does anyone know if you can find out where you are on the reserve lists? Or is it a bit ‘wrong’ to ask?

Lovely to read all your updates. Good luck to those on reserves xx
Thank you! We are hopeful of hearing something in the next few months. I’m hoping that being reserve in both will mean something will open up! 🤞🤞🤞If not she’s going to be putting her energy into G4, pre-pointe and perhaps join Phoenix.

Reserve for DD. She’s not taking it very well. ☹️ She’s reserve for both CAT and associates.

That’s fab news! Well done!

She’s got reserve for CAT too. Lots of waiting to do. 😬

Quite a few of the reserves get places, so fingers crossed. It was quite a wait for one of them though. Well into summer.
That’s good to know. She’s taken it as a no so a place will be a nice surprise if one comes up. X

Well done to your DD @HowMuch! x
She’s holding on to the hope of a yes for CAT or a place coming up on associates. Fingers crossed.

Reserves for my DD. She’s disappointed but pleased it wasn’t another no. Xxx

I don’t know anything about the spring pop up, but classes are all currently still on as normal and the auditions all took place yesterday. I don’t think they’ll cancel anything unless they have to. I could be wrong though. They’re very understanding and helpful so perhaps give them a quick call?

Thank you! I’d forgotten about the Corn Exchange, I’ve not been there for years!

Is anyone’s else’s DC doing both the associate and CAT finals on Sunday? Or anyone with past experience of doing both?
I’m feeling quite apprehensive about it and how DD will manage such a long day. And what to do in the break that won’t add to her tiredness - either through walking about town or through sitting and waiting, both of which can be draining!
I’m pretty sure she’ll be so excited that the tiredness won’t hit her until we get home though! But any tips would be greatly appreciated!

This is very strange to read as my DD has very wide feet and we have struggled to get any wide enough, but both Starlite and Katz are the ones that fit her! She finds all the others way too narrow. I've also been on the receiving end of having ordered 10 different pairs in different sizes and brands in a panic to get some that fit for an exam!
I would guess that they’re perhaps made from cheaper materials that then stretch to fit a wider range of feet?

Another vote for Starlite here. They were the only ballet shoes that reliably fitted my DD’s narrow feet (with the added bonus of them being incredibly cheap! 😂). I’m not sure about their satin split sole, but the leather ones were quite small so perhaps order a few sizes.

Thanks. She's OK but I assume it'll also be a no for the spring pop up too (although she is at the younger end of the age for that anyway)
Just wish there was feedback rather than a straight no. I have a feeling its as much to do with her confidence than anything else as she is quite shy and possibly doesn't perform to her full potential in auditions, maybe looks nervous.
Good experience/practice if nothing else though.
We always try to go to auditions thinking of them as practice or an extra class. It’s not always that easy though and it can be a nervous experience for the younger ones especially.
I don’t know how they can choose between all those who audition. It’s frustrating not to get feedback, perhaps the dance teacher might get some if they called?
As for the spring pop up, I would just wait and see. They might be looking for something different and there might be fewer applicants. I’m sure I’d heard that they’d extended the deadline which suggests there might not be a large pool of applicants?
Above all, it’s simply a ‘not yet’ rather than a totally rejecting ‘no’.

DD is 11 year 7 at the moment and we are Hull so not sure if it would be doable. Thank you so much for your reply x
It might be worth calling them for a chat. I felt quite reassured after the open day that although they want 100% commitment, they also take ‘real life’ into account and also that they support with the academic school’s understanding of possible need to leave school early etc.

Unfortunately it was a no for DD 😞 bit gutted but never mind. What will be will be. Well done to your DD xx
Oh I’m sorry to hear that ☹️.

Any news? DD has got through to finals for associates as well as CAT! She’s speechless! I’m wondering how she’ll manage such a full-on day!!!!

Hi were have cat results and its finals for my dd, could anyone help im not too sure what the teacher report is for and what are the physical checks at final thanks
Well done to your DD! Sorry I can’t help with your questions other than to say I’ve sent the form to DD’s teacher and I’m guessing she’ll write something like a reference/school report.

We got finals too for CAT! My daughter who is already a CAT took a report from her principal just saying what she was like at dance, her strengths and weaknesses and the physical checks I think were by a physio ?
That’s great news!

I had wondered if this might be the case. DD goes to their open classes and we’ve had similar info - signing up but with no guarantee of a spot.
Thankfully DD seems to have put it all behind her and hasn’t asked about it recently so I expect she’ll keep plodding on with her other classes quite happily!
I’m sorry to hear about seniors finals being cancelled. That must be a disappointing blow. X
