  1. I’m assuming later in the day - the last group on Friday was at 3pm I believe.

Who knows, I’m constantly surprised by RBS 😂 we went out for dinner to celebrate tonight as wanted to reinforce to DD that we didn’t care about the results either way. She says she’ll be fine if it’s a No so hopefully we just move on if that’s the end of it. Sure she’ll be a little sad but i’m hoping it’s short-lived. Life lessons and all that…

  2. I could really do without an amber weather warning, two storms and multiple emails from LNER telling me there will be significant disruption over the next few days…

If we make it down south, I just hope, as above, that DD comes out happy and feeling like she’s done her best. What will be…

I predict results by end of next week 🤞🏻

  3. No worries - I've got two kids in the JA age bracket at the moment so I feel like I'm constantly signing up to things 🙂

I think it will tell you what to wear when you get a confirmation of booking email but yes it's a participation class so leotard if they have one, or clothes to move around in anyway.

  4. Yes the October "audition insight days" were for full time training. The "associate insight days" are for those applying to associates, it looks like there are spaces in the Newcastle one and in the online one, the rest are full.

You would generally do the insight day (if you want to) at this time of year, ready to apply to associates in February.

I would agree that it's totally optional - we had actually booked onto an insight day which was the cancelled the year my DD applied, so she applied anyway and loves it. As above though, it might be good to do one if possible as it would let your DC decide if they liked the look of it or not. The online ones were really well in my opinion if you're not near one of the centres.

  5. Well DD absolutely loved the YBSS audition so whatever happens it was well worth it - she came out v happy and feeling like she’d done her best which is all you want for them really.

Does anyone know when the scholarship results come out? Is it just with the main applications (which I think the website says is around 1 April)?

I would like to know too especially as i have just bought a current one in the next size up! Never mind. Sure it’ll be lovely

Argh that’s annoying - we managed to make the first one last a full two years but it was v tight by the end and DD has reluctantly moved up a size for this year (she hates a baggy leotard!). Fortunately the skirt has lasted all three years…

Sorry can’t help with your question but MAs have also been told their leotards will be changing from September. And I, too, am very curious already about what it looks like.

Ah ok - thanks that’s interesting - obviously don’t know if MAs is even an option for DD yet but will be keen to see what that’s like too.

  8. With the full disclosure that this is nothing but sheer nosiness on my part, has anyone heard what the new uniform is going to be like? DD will have finished JAs by the time it comes into play so it doesn't affect her personally, I'm just interested to see what it's like...

If I remember correctly, it was a ticket system for the scholarship audition (eventbright type thing???), so you would have chosen an age group for the ticket?

My understanding is that you needed to apply for summer school as well.

Do you mean that your DC is just doing the audition for experience, with no application for the summer school? Is that something people do? No criticism meant by that!

No sorry when I said she was doing it for ‘the experience’ I just meant that she is very aware (as are we) that getting a scholarship is unlikely, not least because she is a very young year 6 and the audition class is for Y7/8. But she wanted to give it a go and I think it’s all good practice and a chance to be taught by different people etc.

We have applied separately for the summer school itself as she would like to try and get a place even without a scholarship.

Do you not have to submit an application anyway even if you attend the audition? How do they know their ages at the auction if you haven’t submitted applications.

I ask because I spoke to YBSS and DD is auditioning for the scholarship just to have a go. She’s only year 6 so is joining the year 7-8 audition and they said don’t worry because they will know her age. But I haven’t submitted an application yet?

I do intend to but your post @Ms Sunshinehas confused me 😁

My DD is in the same position and doing the audition for experience really - did we maybe have to put down their age when we signed up the audition? It’s all blurring into one application form after another…

Have there been any more emails about the RBS semis? Just checking I haven't missed an email - I have to use a different account for daughter #2 as my main one is registered to daughter #1 as an MA 😁 so I'm always worried I'm missing something.

There was an email today with times etc, for anyone else looking out for this.

  12. If she’s Y5 then maybe socks would be better but I think it comes down to whatever she feels more comfortable in - my DD doesn’t wear socks anymore for any of her classes (since the RBS change) so she was loathe to go back to them for pics.

I think they will see what they want to see regardless to be honest.

Hi sorry to jump on this thread with a only slightly related question. We’re doing our audition photos for summer school at home with her dance teacher helping over zoom (hope they’ll be ok). Ive already picked up some tips here so thank you but would anyone be able to tell me if socks or tights would be a better idea. Application says either. My thoughts are that tights would make her legs look as long as they are but socks would cut them off but also show muscle definition. ??

We’ve just had exactly the same debate! My DD (10) chose to go with tights for RBS pics as Y6 RBS JAs are now wearing tights to class and being encouraged to wear them for auditions this year. She just felt it seemed right to wear them for the pics too (it was me that mentioned muscle definition  but to be honest you still see it in the tights I think).

    Personal preference really I guess!

Thank you. These stories are definitely comforting. The waiting for the next result is the hardest thing. DD said after the Elmhurst audition that it hadn’t gone as well as it could have done and doesn’t feel she showed herself to her best so we’re just trying to focus on the next one.

It’s good she has other auditions to focus on - onwards and upwards.

My DD is only applying for one school - I think in some ways it’s easier as we don’t have so much waiting and stressing for results from various places but on the other hand once it’s a ‘no’ then that’s that; end of the line for this year. But I’m sure it will work out well - whatever that looks like - for all of them in the long run.

  15. I think I remember them saying on the JA zoom call that the WL final would be over 2 days. I think the point of adding in the semi-final was that they would then take less kids through the finals and spend longer (i.e. 2 days) looking at them, and they would do various classes and physio checks etc over those 2 days.
