I see week 1 starts on a Tue and ends on a Sat. Anyone know what time is pickup on the last day typically? Trying to see if we can fly back to the USA that day or need to stay another night. Also is there a train to Richmond Park from Heathrow/Center of London or do non locals typically rent a car/take a taxi/Uber? Thanks!
It varies but usually 1pm. You can get a train to Richmond and then will need to take a taxi/uber up to White Lodge. For the last intensive the school arranged the minibus to bring students down to Sheen Gate Car Park, rather than having everyone wait at White Lodge, but again a taxi/uber can take you there

When I hosted i always helped. The child was like my adopted daughter/ son. The child was also included in our outings during free time, or had a choice to join and my only demand was to have dinner with us at the table. This has encouraged communication, making her more welcome and as a part of the family.
The same was provided for my daughter when she stayed in NY. The family gave her travel tips, often picked her up from station and was there when she needed.
Thank you. I appreciate you taking the time to reply and that’s reassuring! That’s what I imagined it to be like but wasn’t sure.

Good evening all.
Just wondered if anyone could help me with this topic as it’s something I now need to look into for my own dd. Does a home stay family make sure the dancer gets on the right transport links or should a dancer know their own way round London? I struggle! Do I need to be giving my dd some street wise wisdom! I guess I’m asking is it just literally a bed for the night?!

I haven’t heard anything at all 🤔. I sent 2 emails telling them we couldn’t make it and could they please use the original video footage but received no response to either. I assumed at the time they were just busy with auditions but who knows .
No news here either. We did video footage too

My DD is trying for Moorlands Yr 10 too - we did ours via video audition though. Fingers crossed we all hear soon.

Yes we are - although Covid is stopping plans at the moment.

Leeds JA's tend to use towels - Miss Hatton is lovely and will go over everything that first lesson, so don't worry. Enjoy it all x

My dd is boarding from September and this is one of my concerns. Sending big hugs - so hard when we are not there to help them through it x

Fab summer school, this will be our third year there. DD loves it

Does anyone have a clue as to when term information/financial info etc gets issued from RBS for WL?
-
Thank you JulieW. The dancers at our local school still have love and passion for dance even though not many got recalled for finals at lower schools, they are already talking of going again next year. I really think its us as parents that struggle with it all. LOL

Although my son was assessed out, if you think about it logically, the chances are that it won't. If 10% of a year leave, 90% won't.
Whatever happens you have WL on your CV. My son's view is that if he hadn't attended his first school, even though he wasn't that happy there, he wouldn't have the technique to be where he is now. Possibly the name on the CV helped too - there were a lot of ex-students from that school in his first company. But if he hadn't been assessed out he would have lost his love of dancing, and doubts if he would have continued, the school just wasn't right for him.
Thank you Meadowblythe for that. I really appreciate hearing that - its reassuring

Wheras I have heard that certain other schools may be interested in building links to visit the school to watch class and speak to children who have been assessed out to discuss their options.
That's reassuring. Thank you for sharing that.

This is my worry about taking up a year 7 place, we've also heard rumours that if assessed out of WL there will be little/no chance of getting another vocational school. What happened to just going to one class a week. LOL

Just as a side note RBS now have two programmes for the 5 years at whitelodge, the foundation programme covering years 7,8,9 and then the development programme for 10 and 11. Those dancers finishing year 9 in July at White Lodge have not been assessed out, they have finished the programme and for whatever reason did not get offered a year 10 place. There is still a lot of assumptions made that students have been assessed out. I've no idea whether this thread is related to White Lodge or not but feel its important to get this message out there.
