I was so angry and disappointed by what I heard on Panorama that I’ve just written a 3 page letter to the RBS, sent by email, expressing my disappointment in them, but also how I think things can be changed for the better. I doubt it will even be read, but I at least feel better for writing it!

Our of curiosity did you ever get a reply?

  2. As we are starting the process of Upper School auditions I've been looking back and wondered how everyone had got on. DD has a long list including international schools. I cant believe how fast this has all come round, those first auditions at RBS/Elmhurst seem like only yesterday and we went for a day out to see how it was with no expectations - the rollercoaster journey has been non stop since then!

  3. Professional Pics are not necessary - getting the technical details required in a photo are the important bits but you can achieve this with a phone and the help of a teacher. If money isn't a major factor then professional pics are great - we use Kate Frost, who is fabulous.

For the personal statement side this is our first venture into this so hoping for the best - I hope its just to give a very small snippet of an insight into the dancer.

  4. She is loving it - and thriving there. She had a great time at WL and we will never regret her going - the class sizes were smaller than at home which was great and the kids all progressed, they all wanted more dance lessons at the beginning though - I think they thought they could dance all day - well at Kings they do! At Kings they really focus on the individual and getting them to thrive. They get personalised corrections, there is a focus on strength and conditioning and making them a dancer who can go into a job, they have someone available to talk too if the dancers need it, one of the teachers has set timetable time and is available for the kids. Its a much more intimate and close knit school. The teachers know the kids well and will do their best to help them no matter what their end goal is.

  5. I'm another one that highly recommends Kings International Ballet Academy for years 10 and above. Just a wonderful school. They have their show on the 15th July in Rugby if anyone wants to go along to watch.

For lower school there are the usual - WL, Tring, Elmhurst, Moorland, YDA. We went for a day out not expecting anything and our dd enjoyed 3 years at WL, she moved to Kings last September. If you have any questions please feel free to PM me.

  6. get in touch with Ballet Boost and see what they say. The whole Ballet Boost team are wonderful and the teacher at Hull is quite simply awesome! Does your daughter think she can cope with both? Can you cope with the travelling and time commitment for both? I have no experience of BTUK so can't comment on that specifically, however associate schemes are great and certainly open up opportunities to students who can't attend vocational schools for whatever reason.

  7. So my DD was at a vocational school until the end of year 9, she then moved to Kings International for her dance training. She is educated via oxbridge learning for her GCSE's. We are doing it slightly different to the norm though. To reduce stress and anxiety for the year 11 auditions we have chosen to take Maths and both English GCSE's this year, Science will follow next year.  Oxbridge content is good, but you have to keep on top of them at all times. I've had to chase for assignments to be marked, had to chase for the exam timetable etc. There is no specific classes, its down to the individual to follow the learning plan.

If you have any specific questions feel free to shout out.
