My daughter is on the reserve list for year 8. I think I should call tomorrow and ask. which department do I call?
I dialled main school number, pressed 1 for reception and asked to be put through to Janet Starmer. Good luck!

Just seen on FB that a child who was at funding for Hammond and DD thought was a dead cert for MDS has been given a place at Elmhurst. So there might be another award up for grabs ...

Sorry it wasn’t an immediate yes. Did they mind you asking that question? I wasn’t going to ask them as it said not to on the letter, but everyone seems too know where their DD or DS are, so will try and find out tomorrow. All very new to me so I don’t know the correct etiquette ha-ha. DD only auditioned for an associate place this year too so this is including this forum which is of an immense help is new to me too.
I would email if you can't get through. It was discussed where DD was on the reserve list when I called, as I suppose if she had been VERY near the top, there would be no need to offer her a bursary right away, if that makes sense.

I have spoken to Hammond my dd is 19 out of 62 so highly unlikely anything will change for her and the bursary isn't enough. Congratulations to everyone else and back to associates for her.
If she's 19th out of 62, that's quite near the top, as I'm guessing numbers 1-14 have the awards?
I hope she's ok xx

I wonder how many MDS there were at Hammond this year ?
I am delighted that my pupil has just gained one for year 7 .
Well done to her! By my guestimation by what I was told where DD was on the list etc I think around 14. But please don't treat this as gospel!

I can't guarantee this, its hearsay at the moment but I have a feeling another Hammond MDS may have just become available.
I know there were at least two children at Hammond funding last week waiting for Elmhurst results so that might cause movement too.

She is lovely isn't she? And so patient and calm talking to me when she must have about 10 people on call waiting!

DD is on reserve for MDS at Hammond as expected. Just had a chat with the school and they told me where she was on the list. Am very proud as she's much higher up than I thought she'd be! They've offered us a bursary so she'll be there in September whatever happens.
Good luck to everyone still waiting!

Had to laugh at his determination, when I told him, he just said, “Well I’ll just try again next year and the year after that and the year after that and the year after that...” 😆😆😆😆😆
Great attitude, and as you said, the negative points from their feedback are easily worked on. Roll on next year! X

I'm unsure how many have been recalled this year. Last year there was around 50.
Did the 50 include years 7-10 or just 7 and 8?

DD has been offered a place at Hammond for year 7 but I'm not expecting her to get a MDS award tbh. She is a lovely dancer and has no issues getting into things like LCB and EYB, but I've been given feedback that her size and strength is lacking compared to others, so am pinning our hopes on a bursary and have been saving like mad since before Christmas!
Good luck to everyone waiting for Elmhurst results and all dc attending the funding audition at Hammond this week. May the funding fairies be kind to all xx

Congrats on the place. Not everyone gets a place. Dd1 had place with bursary last year but due to personal circs could not accept. This time she was not accepted. It is confusing as she has matured well over last yr in dance. The physio did say she has hyper mobile joints so I wonder if this could be the issue? It has never caused her any issues.
I’m sorry to hear that, hope she’s ok. Was it for year 8? If so, I imagine it’s tougher to get a place.

That's great news! Does anyone know roughly how many will be at the funding finals next week?

My dd had an absolute blast at Hammond yesterday. She got on really well with the other auditionees and thought she did well. She felt her solos went great though did comment it felt the day was very rushed. They'd squeezed lot into the group and didn't have time to do the tests on the afternoon. Fingers crossed they'll ring us with results as they said they might due to close date of the finals.
Good luck to your DD. How many were there yesterday? There was only about 20 children in my daughter's prelim in November.

Need to get DD a new festival-worthy pancake tutu by early next month - she's a petite age 10. Can't afford a brand new one - so any leads on pre-loved ones or hire options would be much appreciated!
Thanks!

Just wondering for those of you who have already been, what do they look for in a solo? DS is torn between trying out moves he’d like to do but hasn’t quite perfected or going simple.
We’re overthinking this, can you tell??? 🤣🤣🤣
Agree to go simple. DD did a festival ballet solo that she's been doing for the last 18 months or so in her audition and got offered a place. It's a very simple routine, and one that she's almost outgrown technique-wise, but it was one she could do very confidently and 'perform' as Pictures said, without worrying about some tricky step that she wasn't 100% on.

There were some lovely dancers there this evening! Congrats to your DS. It will be my DD’s second EYB and her friend’s first - they work them hard but they do have so much fun.

I was told that even though DD will probably be starting with a bursary, she (and everyone else on one) will be considered for a MDS when they come up for grabs.
