  1. We can see at this moment that the activities of Carlos Acosta's company are in full development, we hear more and more about it, they have wonderful dancers, new choreographies, many tours and performances.

I cannot imagine Acosta completely turning away from this group as from January 2020 to deal exclusively with BRB.

Is it really possible to run two companies simultaneously ?

Will he really devote himself 100% to BRB, I wonder....

I hope this will be the case but I am skeptical.

It is extremely usual for a coach to give a kiss to the dancers he or she has been coaching at the end of a rehearsal.

For those interested, it is also very usual for Russian coaches coaching Russian dancers, to have heated arguments during a coaching session, then meeting up  afterwards over a meal or a drink as the greatest of friends :)

at the end maybe but not in the middle of a rehearsal come on :)

  3. Concerning Raymonda, Sarah Lamb and Vadim Muntagirov were excellent.

To my opinion the problem is more the casting of some of the female variations.

We can understand that Kevin O'Hare has to cast his first soloists but Melissa Hamilton was ill at ease, Itziar Mendizabal seemed miscast, Yuhui Choe was doing the job as always but she did not seemed to be completely into it. Only Mayara Magri was on top form. The trio was very good too.

I really think Mr O'Hare should cast other dancers more suited to those tricky variations.

Enigma Variations wonderful, Laura Morera a beautiful artist, what a joy to see her on stage.

  4. I was there yesterday and  I must say I did not like the show AT ALL.

Main problem is for me the lack of chemistry between the two leading dancers.

This Romeo is too young and too feminine for this Juliet.

Impossible to believe in their love.

They had absolutely no connection anyway.

On top of that I found the choreography very basic and some of the dancers looked like students (I know some of them are but it's not something I notice when I go to see the second company of Hofesh Shechter).

Some of them were very weak technically and very OTT in their interpretation.

    Audience loved it....

Just curious, when was the last time that a first soloist danced the lead role in one of the major classics? Interesting that it was given to Bracewell over a principal. In fact, is there a reason Hirano is rarely given the lead role in the major classics for the cinema relays?

Yes Happy Turk there is  😊

    (i) Seeing Stephane Bullion give a blistering performance as Armand opposite the exquisite Eleonora Abbagnato in Neumeier's Dame at the Garnier.  The first time I saw this piece was 22 years ago in Paris with Bullion.  In between he has been ravaged by cancer and returned victoriously.  I continually read with admiration on these boards of people bursting into tears at the deaths in Mayerling and R&J.  I found Bonelli's (RB) and Frola's (ENB) final moments in Manon very moving certainly.  I rarely - if ever - find myself weeping I must admit.  I did tear with joy filled pride at seeing O'Sullivan and Sambe's debut in the Tschai PDD in NYC.  Here as well Bullion's personal history (one which I have shared) mixed with his stunningly committed performance made this Dame a complete eye-weller for me on more than one occasion during the traffic of its stage.  Memorable certainly.

Wait.... I think I have missed something there !  Did Stéphane Bullion talked openly and publicly about his cancer ?

  7. It is certainly very difficult to be a moderator, I would not like to be in your place that's for sure.

Moderators certainly have to be strict but they have to be welcoming and encouraging as well !

It was not case the other day with Naomi, we all know it....

In France we have the example of a ballet forum where the moderator is very/too strict...

The result is now very simple :  after a huge success during years people are now kind of "scared" to participate, which is a real pity.

Some days there are no posts anymore...

Here the way the forum is organized is very different and it's a pleasure to come and read it.
