  1. Yes, I believe it's e mail. In the unlikely event of all the twiglets getting in, has anyone thought about how they will tell their child?

I had to tell DS he had a no from Hammond, I was dreading it but he took it really well. Any ideas?? S xx

  2. My DS just sits on the sofa watching tv in all kinds of contortions! In fact if he's sat on a chair in the usual way, it just looks wrong! ? Saying that he can't do splits just yet, close but not quite. He's 10 and did gymnastics from the age of 3-7 then started ballet. It has helped him I think. 10 is still so very young though from a muscle development perspective so I wouldn't worry too much. xx

When did you hear about your Elmhurst Audition MrsMoo2? We still haven't had an email but we did send the form off late x

Had an e mail a few days ago hun. I'm glad we did though as I was starting to think they hadn't received it, or I'd sent the wrong photos or something...? They did say they were working through them. Prob means there's a million applicants or something! ?? xx

  4. Love reading everyone's experiences. Ours seems like it was an age ago. I do believe DS has almost forgotten about it and we're on holiday atm in Spain so plenty of distractions!

You'd think with so many applicants, they would take a few more but I guess that's what makes it more exclusive.

Onto Elmhurst for us in a few weeks and keeping everything crossed for you all! ? xx

  5. We've sent the info off but not heard anything?

Anyone have any idea when the Manchester junior associate audition is?? Getting a bit worried it will clash with holidays etc.

DS loving this year, going to all these auditions. Would love him to just get one, would be such a huge confidence boost...??? xx

My dd also auditioned yesterday in Birmingham for yr 6 and enjoyed it. Came out with a smile on her face which is always a relief! She said one lady on the panel was smiling all the way through, even while writing notes :D
Curious about the groupings - when we arrived the previous group had just finished, they looked slightly younger - yr 4/5s maybe? But then the group that arrived after us (for the 1.30 slot I guess) also looked younger but with a few bigger ones amongst them... Were they all auditioning for yr 6 places yesterday I wonder, or a mixture of 4,5,6...

I *think* because JA1 is a mixture of Yr 4/5's then there will naturally be more of the smaller ones than the yr 6's/JA2?? If that makes sense??

DS was in a boys audition so was all mixed up with all ages!! ?? xx

that explains  why i like you  ...   I used to be an RN(A)  until my own mental health took a turn for the worse ...

Awww, I did it the other way round, danced for years, then all went downhill with MH and as I tried to climb back out on the other side, I happened to gain a RMN qualification!

Dream is to open something for ex performers, some kind of residential rehab. On day!! ??? xxx

  8. Hi, awww, bless her, she's 7!

At 7, I would just be wanting to ensure she has a lovely time, dancing and having fun with her friends. ??

We recently went to the RBS Ass auditions with my 9 year old DS and I loved that they tried to make it more about being fun than anything else. Obviously there's the hidden agenda around physique and musicality but to the kids it was just a fun class.

I'd try two things, address the bullying with school, and try to get her back to loving learning to dance. Maybe a class that isn't part of a syllabus, just for fun. My DS does acro and that's his silly hour! Do they have anything like this?

Over my time (I'm an ex dancer turned MH nurse!) I've seen lots of kids put off by being the wrong shape, having the wrong legs or arms and in 2017 in the world of dance, most things are ok. My own DD is a completely different shape to her twin but then look at the choreography by the likes of Lea Anderson. Open her eyes to a wonderful world and she will want, no, be driven to dance forever. ????

Relatively new to this too - my nearly 14 year old DS has been dancing for about 18 months - so it's been a learning curve but surprisingly not too steep! He's got both full seat and thong type and also has one integrated with leotard (thong back by Wear Moi I think.) He's seems pretty content with his selection (well, as content as you can be with these things I guess!!) but I suspect won't replace the full seat one when it's outgrown.

And MrsMoo2, it's just dawned on me that we know each other :) Happy to talk dance belts and furniture with you any time!

Ha ha, I'd make a crap spy!!!

Note to self, be more elusive! ????

I just found this forum the other week, great isn't it?? S xx

  10. I've so enjoyed reading these replies! Thank you for all your help guys. Someone mentioned one that was integral to a leotard a few months ago. Anyone have any experience of these??

Thinking it's one less thing to go missing if it's attached!

Shouldn't laugh but he's gone dancing tonight in his boxer shorts  and leotard! (With toghts over obviously!) Looked comical but he was happy! ???

    S xx

I've been looking for a previous thread that had a link to a website with great advice on. Can't find it grr!! I think it's only fair that mothers of ds have one tricky issue  to deal with! ! You escape all the hair and pointe shoe issues.      ...

Ha ha, as if! He has a twin sister who also dances! ?? xx

  12. That looks good. It makes me giggle how I can't raise it in conversation with his dance teacher as I'm suddenly 13 again! ? I'm 41!! There are no other boys to ask either round here, so want to make sure he's googling the right thing! Oo-errrrrr...? xx

  13. Boo, just been wondering about dance belts for my almost 10 year old.

What age do boys start to wear them? How do, you know, you get the furniture in, if you get me? ☺️So many boy questions. Ho hummmmmm...

Be grateful if you could recommend your faves, ooooh, it's a minefield! ??? Can I get a book on this kind of parenting? There's a gap in the market there...?
