We are traveling to NY this summer for intensive and have standard GP letter plus I've emailed them medical check which was done for upper school entry. US school was happy with it.

Thank you. I will wait and see how he words the letter and take it from there. Might be worth phoning them to explain.

  2. Hi my dd is due to attend a Summer Intensive in the USA this summer. We need a Dr’s letter to say she is healthy to participate. Our GP is a bit reluctant to do this for fear of litigation but said that he would provide a letter with medical history attached to put the onus back on the school for them to decide if she was fit. I’m worried that this will not be acceptable as we have spent a lot of money already on travel, accommodation etc., not to mention the intensive itself. Just wondered if anyone else has encountered this problem and if there is any way around this.

Hi - have you looked at Kings International Ballet Academy? It is a purposefully small academy of Ballet limiting numbers to 16 in each year so that each student receives individual attention - we are able to offer a levels/ academic qualifications as an optional extra plus a teaching diploma . We have a very different approach to the training of our Classical Dancers and follow the Russian method. We are currently auditioning  in Portugal but we do have dates left in Wales, Switzerland, Ireland, Malta and Birmingham . Have a look on our website and don’t hesitate to telephone .

Will look into that thank you,

  4. Just one BlueLou, but she has only applied for one school. We don’t live in GB so any audition involves flights, hotels as well as the normal fees for auditions. The cost of these is dictating what she has applied for. Also getting time off work for mid week auditions is virtually impossible. It seems the odds are stacked against her 😢

  5. Fair point  meadowblythe I do know that the dance world is a very tough one and to be honest so does dd. I think as a parent you want to protect them from the disappointments of life, never mind the added stress/expense/juggling etc just to get to the audition!

  6. Anyone had any results from the Leeds CSB audition? Dd got a ‘No’ and is gutted! Wondering where to go from here. No other auditions planned as funding for auditions/travel and the courses themselves (if she was accepted) is a big issue for us. Not sure that she would get a DADA as they seem to be only for exceptionally talented children.
