They are doing one just for the students who have been offered a place for 2022 think it’s the beginning of April. She said she would email date when finalised. It will be a great opportunity for them to get to know each other

Oh perfect thank you for the info, we will hold off for that one then 😃

Panicking a bit here... I've booked my daughter into new medlock but she still has 2 recall auditions to attend who probably won't announce places until end of March or maybe even April.

NM have only a 7 day cooling off period before you're basically liable for the whole year unless they fill your place.

Dd is DESPERATE to attend and says Manchester is where she should be but we won't even be able to send her unless she gets DaDA funding. Aaarghhh!

Hi we can’t send DD without a DaDa either I’ve resigned myself to not signing up for accommodation until we know for sure, which is a gamble on what accommodation she gets in the end but it’s only for a year and can move her accommodation in year 2 if she’s not happy where she ends up. Worst case it’s 2 hours on a direct train if all accommodations are booked up and she will just have to wait until someone drops out of uni or something to take their contract over! I’m not a fan of the ambiguity of waiting on the DaDa.

Not sure if you saw earlier in the thread but my daughter will be in a flat of 7 next year for her second year, with two other second years. They're pretty quiet and lovely and on the lookout for any first years to join them who might appreciate being shown the ropes.

We are just waiting for funding info and will be calling to book as soon as / if DD gets a provisional offer.

Out of curiosity what are experiences with funding? I know one forum members DD received theirs at the eleventh hour last year!

Also what are people thoughts on average weekly costs for food etc? Do most get the same from their parents or have you noticed a large variation?

Oh, I am only aware of the first email with offer. We have not fully accepted space yet as my DD’s final auditions are this week. She has 6 offers but she has been very keen on NBS from the start. However I haven’t confirmed anything until she has been to all and is 100% sure. Though I think she is.
I will check over initial letter and see if I can see link. I may have missed it!

We got our original offer in December then this follow up today, DD accepted in December as it’s her first choice, exciting to see some movement!

Sorry, I don’t know what the Bimm site is. Could you explain please! X

DD had an email earlier asking for her to sign up to the BIMM site (link in email) to receive the formal offer, potentially in peoples spam or they could be sending them in batches 🙂

Hi just to let you know we visited the NBS and accommodation in Manchester yesterday. We have booked a room in the Artisan Heights. We chose this accommodation as it is literally around the corner it’s very clean as it’s new and super secure. They have blocked off a flat of 5 for NBS 1st year students. If you are interested give them a call. Also they told me they are putting up the prices for the accommodation on the 28 th February.

Thank you this is very handy info!

Woo hoo..... We just had good news from NBS! DS is completely over the moon - he absolutely loved it. (He's also probably about to get kicked out of school because he keeps texting me with how excited he is so a good job he got an offer! 😂

    Congratulations to your DS!! 🥳

Thanks,  I suspect it’s going to be a close run thing! ☺️

What about the feeling your DD got when at them all, for example, when we went to bird DD said it’s not that she didn’t like it, it’s like she was looking around someone else college, like it just wasn’t for her, whereas she saw herself at performers and NBS, she felt like she could be part of them and I think that counts for a lot 😊

Well my daughters bestie has just been offered a full scholarship on the degree. Still waiting on our post 🤦🏻‍♀️

Oh 🤞🏼 maybe some news today! Did your DD audition at the other schools yet or are they still to come?

Just an update still heard nothing yet lol. Honestly the wait is horrible. She keeps playing the interview in her head lol and at the end of the interview they said ‘we hope to see you again soon ‘ so that’s her positive but then she’s like maybe it’s a no though lol.

The waiting is awful, it’s nice that it will be a letter though, there’s something about it being on paper and opening the envelope that’s different to opening an email, plus a parents is usually around when a letter is opened to support either way!

Hopefully Monday will bring you some news 🙂

No they didn’t 🤦🏻‍♀️ But I’ve searched this forum lol and think it’s 4 days and something about a black envelope?  Interview was amazing and they did say loads of lovely things so my daughter so I’m leaning towards a positive but you never know do you. Honestly this is the most nerve wracking part

Have you had any news yet? 😊

@Hairpinseverywhere my DD has also been offered a place and would be keen to be in accommodation with others.

It would be good to get feedback from other dance  parents who have had their children at NBS and in the accommodation.

Well done to your DD. 👏

We have booked to view early Feb, 44weeks at Dwell MSV with en-suite is very similar price to the 51week option at New Medlock with non en-suite so wanting to weigh up if the smaller space is worth it for the en-suite perk! Will let you know what we find!

@Ballet-taxi and @HairpinseverywhereCongratulations to your DDs - that's fantastic! Please could you advise us on what they needed to do in the audition? Or more specifically do they have to sing? DS would really like to audition there but rather intimidated by the mention of singing on the course as he is probably a candidate for the worst singer out there! 😂 Have told him I'll try to find out through the magic mum network as he's determined I shouldn't call the school and ask them in case that shatters his chances... and of course he's 16 so he knows best!

Oh Good Luck to your DS! DD didn’t sing at the audition, Dance solo only no song or monologue. There was a mix of contemporary, jazz and ballet solos on her audition day.

    Hope this helps.

Honestly everyone the wait for these places is unreal lol. My daughter is really hoping for Wilkes to offer her a place as she loved it. On one hand I think they said so many lovely comments in the interview surely they would offer her a place then on the other hand I’m like maybe they won’t and that’s what they do give her loads of praise and let her down. It’s the not knowing so if anyone has any knowledge of Wilkes audition interview feel free to let me know x

Did they give any indication of how long it would be until they let your DD know? I don’t have experience of Wilkes I’m afraid!

Oh Congrats to your DD!!  👏🏼 I contacted US and they said accommodation can be booked and if DD is unsuccessful in gaining funding, then cancelled FOC. I think you just need to let them know it’s for NBS. We are making plans to go and view some of the accommodations so DD can see her options.

Thanks everyone, it’s a minefield, and the costs are spiralling due to flights and hotels etc! Funding is more than definitely an issue especially for Laine, but really all of them. LSC is also a degree but not fully funded so there are so many options as well as financial ones. She has decided against performers and bird, she would like somewhere with a strong ballet training. Does anyone know anything about Stella Mann?

I don’t have any direct experience with Stella Mann. DD auditioned there recently and it was pleasant enough.

From reading other threads KS Dance seem to have a strong ballet focus with the option to specialise.

Sorry I can’t be of any more help but I’m sure others will be able to add.
