LSC has offered us an extension so I’m sure you’d get the same if you want to keep it open.
However I’ve committed to New Medlock halls so will be a long commute to London. 🤣

We have booked medlock too now so fingers crossed on the funding for everyone 😃

I couldn’t agree more about the funding process! Does the BIMM system not allow you to accept both NBS and Performers?

From what we have from performers admissions she can only rescind acceptance from either within 14days or if funding is unsuccessful, however in the event funding was offered for both it would become tricky. So all DDs eggs are in one basket.

If anyone has any different information please do share!!☺️

Some years ago I had a pupil with multiple DaDA offers and she did manage to delay making a decision until all offers were in.  She didn't loose a DaDa but she did get a stern reminder from them once all offers were out - I understood it to be DaDA organisers not a school - that she needed to make a choice.  In the end she did a Degree course so had student funding.

It’s catch 22 isn’t it. Everyone who needs funding ‘has to’ hold a back up offer, whereas if everyone only held one choice initially, then the process would speed up but subsequently there would end up with some that need funding not gaining any due to not having the back up.

whilst I understand the process I am equally baffled by it.

No worries, and yes she really wants NBS, but I can’t afford the fees without DaDA so I’m leery about committing  - she’s got DaDA for her 2nd choice so it’s a bit of a nail biting time

Oh that’s great news though to have the back up in place! DDs second choice is performers, also with BIMM so we feel she can’t accept that now which leaves her third choice of Bird who are notorious with late funding decisions. We are very much in the same boat DaDA wise. With accommodation and living expenses etc we need the assistance of the DaDA for fees. I feel the second choice option has been removed for DD in the way BIMM are doing it and it doesn’t favour the students that need Funding. For all we know, DD is bottom of NBS list and would never be able to get a DaDA, but she could be top of performers and thus miss out and end up unable to go anywhere. I’m not a fan of the transitional stage awaiting funding, as a parent it’s awful not being able to provide what your child

needs and leaving them in limbo due to being unable to accept both places to see what funding is available to her.

I’ve emailed the admissions team for clarification - will let you know if I get a response!

Oh thank you, NBS is DDs first choice so we decided to bite the bullet and accept. Is NBS your DCs first choice?

What concerns me is we have to commit to paying the fees before we know about DaDA 🙄

Yes it’s a tricky one. It kind of goes against the order set out in the timescales info for DaDAs so I don’t know if they can hold you to it or not. I’d love if anyone has any experience/insight on this?

I had to go back to NBS and explain I hadn’t had anything from BIMM. So eventually I got it and ‘created an account’ as it said but all I did to do this, was give an email and password.

Only afterwards, I checked and found out I needed to do another application through them.
So I’m still waiting for the formal offer and terms to read!!!

My degree does not equip me for all this dance admin! It’s not easy!🤣

Oh we did the same and I think myself quite techie. Made the account and thought that was that until we got an email prompt that we have to fill the application in 😂

DS got an email through just after 1am this morning so if yours doesn't come soon might be worth following up. It's also on portal... all very confusing re: saying they need a deposit within 28 days but not saying how much and where to pay etc. I think we are going to be the guinea pig year for the BIMM admin system!! 😉

I see what you mean about the 28 days and deposit box being blank.

DD accepted this morning, it popped up with something about forwarding a form but I didn’t know what it meant then it disappeared, I’m sure they will be in touch if there’s something additional required.

And yes that pack of terms was a bit of a read wasn’t it!

We were really impressed with Zobia too…. She took us on a virtual tour which was really helpful and was very adamant about the NBS under 18s being in a flat all together so I feel quite confident that they’re “on it”!

We’ve booked in for NMH - flat of 4 on the 7th floor (penthouse suite! 😂) and she mentioned another flat was full, so sounds like there’s a good little gang of them.

All booked in for the Easter workshop too so hopefully they’ll all get to meet each other. 😊

We viewed Medlock yesterday, Zobia was fantastic, so friendly and helpful! She said there’s one space left in the NBS flat block B 7th floor I think she said and another flat of 4 earmarked so put us at ease over running out of space a bit, DD loved it.

We then went to the NBS show which was fantastic to watch, well done to all involved.

Is that the Performers college in Essex? Wow the funding seems so complicated for the diplomas! Has she auditioned for NBS yet?

Yes performers in Essex, yes auditioned at NBS and has a place just waiting on funding from either.

Are you saying that for performers you have to commit to paying the full fees right now if you accept a place?  It seems odd - that way only people who can actually afford full fees will be able to accept which almost defeats the object of having funding.

Yes that’s what the letter says. We unfortunately don’t come from the correct income bracket to commit to that without knowing if funding is available.

She’s got the right attitude! And I agree, it’s so tricky. One of her offers needs a response in 3 weeks so it’s putting the pressure on a bit. Her last audition isn’t for another 3 weeks 🤦🏻‍♀️ Has your daughter decided where she is going?

DD wants to go to NBS, second choice performers, she has 3 weeks to decide on performers or not but they won’t offer funding without a hard acceptance (level 6 Diploma) and it’s a firm commit to the 15k fees, DaDA or not and she doesn’t know about any funding at NBS yet either. 🤷‍♀️

Hi , we were told if you don't get funding in 1st year you don't get it in 2nd or 3rd year.

    Mj

Also maintenance us looked at each year so if circumstances change the amount of maintenance loan can also change but fees are paid for each if the 3 years .

Thank you! DH was trying to think of solutions for DD if funding isn’t offered as she’s very set on NBS. Guess we will just have to wait it out 🙂

  14. DH asked a question I couldn’t answer tonight so I wondered if anyone else could.

If DD isn’t successful in gaining funding for the first year, is there any potential to be given funding in the second?

    any thoughts/ experiences?

Thank you, thats very helpful. just hoping that we dont have to leave securing the accomodation to the last minuite. Fingers crossed.

We are going to view this weekend.

Is your DC attending the Easter workshop in April?

Hi everyone. I’m new here so have some many questions. My 16 yo DD has just accepted her place at NBS. Is anyone else here looking at the MSV accommodation and if so have you been able to agree with them to hold a room without payment while waiting for DaDA?

Unite agreed to cancel room with no charge if we could provide a letter stating funding is unsuccessful.  (I am not sure we should get this so haven’t signed up) MSV said that wether or not DD has access to funding would not release her from a contact so we are just waiting now. DD has had performers official offer now with a deadline of 28 days so she’s hoping NBS are in touch soon !

Hi just spoke to Shona at the NBS. They are just having one workshop over Easter now for all the successful applicants and and people who are interested for next year.

DD is so excited, it’s a great opportunity for them all to meet before September, she will be booking on 🙂

They are doing one just for the students who have been offered a place for 2022 think it’s the beginning of April. She said she would email date when finalised. It will be a great opportunity for them to get to know each other

    Just received an email 🙂

Thank you, that’s really interesting. I don’t suppose you know whether her friends were called for an interview at the end of the audition day do you?

Did your daughter end up going there?

None of the friends were interviewed 🙂

  20. Hi

DD auditioned for Performers in Essex.

She got an offer on the day, about 9 of them did altogether across Diploma and Degree.

DDs friends didn’t get an offer on the day, one subsequently got an offer, one got reserve and the other, a not on this occasion so I think it’s a bit of a mixed bag 🤷‍♀️

From what they said it was around a week and a half before they received their outcomes.

sorry I realise this won’t have cleared anything up x
