  2. No expert here and I’m sure some qualified person will answer better but I think it’s to check turn in? As opposed to turn out. So this one gives an overall picture of hip rotation in both directions. This is just a guess though, happy to be corrected!

  3. I have no idea how long Leo Dixon and Joseph Sissens have been with the company but I watched both in class recently and they were astoundingly impressive, such technique and the jump height! It may take a while but I’m sure they are destined for principal and I can’t wait to enjoy their journey! Sambe and Stix Brunel also blew me away in rehearsal with Wayne Macgegor.

  4. Hi Sarahballet

I think all of the UK vocational schools have a good record of getting students in to various upper schools. It really depends on the type of dancer and what direction they want to take at 16 rather than the particular school.  Some will want to stay focused on classical ballet, others more contemporary or musical theatre route. Also, there are non vocational students who are also successful in securing full time upper school places. I know that Tring, Young Dancers Academy, Elmhurst and White Lodge all send students on to train at RB and ENB. Not sure about Princess Grace? Perhaps someone else can shed light there.

  5. Hi auditioningenu, sometimes children who didn’t actually tick the box for white lodge but are auditioning for Mas are invited to final audition anyway if they are identified as having the potential to become a full time student. Hope that makes sense?

  6. Hi Sunrise81, not stupid at all! It’s all very confusing when you’re new to it. You are right, all UK students at RBS lower school are entitled to MDS funding if they meet the household income criteria. I think Elmhurst is the same, (though have heard exceptions to this) and Tring have far fewer MDS places on offer so only selected candidates are invited to the funding audition. Hope this helps a little and sure others can clarify re Elmhurst.

  7. (Moderators, Hope ok to post here)

Many years ago I made a box of lucky charms with a message attached for my daughter to have in her dance bag when she went off to auditions/exams and the idea caught on! They became my most popular dance product, a little token of luck seems to go a long way as I love hearing all of the wonderful success stories  from my lovely customers.

Here is the link to see them

  8. Hi AdageKitty-  are you including YDA -Young Dancers Academy in Shepherds Bush in the 5? There is  Also St Marylebone girls school who award a scholarship to 4 or 5 dancers each Year to start in year 7. They are a state academic school with a strong arts/drama/dance focus. If not offered an arts scholarship, entry to the school is broadly based on church attendance.
