My child is on their first year as a JA and yes whilst they have had to give up the comps and festivals, the additonal committment of exercises and travelling and danciing every Saturday etc, they have not gone 'backwards' in fact I think its just the opposite. It depends what they want to do, where they want to take it. I think the audition experience is valuable as well.
