  1.

Thank you, but you have to give eloise_please credit for "Popular" - mine was "What is this feeling". :-)

Strictly the credit has to go to my DD's dance teacher as it is an inspired, witty routine! It was originally done by a 14 year old and 16 year old but is now a 9 and 11 year old (my DD is the 11 year old Glinda with serious 'blondeness' going on). It is very good!

  2. I have never heard of this. I have had to have a CRB check for several different things including primary school governor, reading mentor, my job in the NHS and for Royal Ballet Chaperoning. I had to go on a safeguarding course as a school governor but I didn't think this was connected to my CRB check just the role. Which county is this?

And does the CRB check get done in the county you live or the county that the head office is in (such as RBS).

  3. Going into year 7 the ages would be 11 on sept 1st 2012 to those turning 11 on 31st August 2013. That is that they are currently in year 6. Your daughter must be turning 11 before August 2013 or she wouldn't be a year 6 JA or able to apply for a year 7 place at White Lodge if I'm correct?! X

  4. Mmmmmm. Could go either way as might make her more determined? I guess you know how your DD would take it. Which centre are you waiting for? I think my Dd is more than realistic about getting or not getting a place. We are waiting for Manchester (currently Leeda JA) and Northern Ballet associates too.

Wow intermediate. My Dd did her grade 1 last year and has started working on her grade 2. The JA year 6's are such different standards. A lot of my Dd's JA class are already doing some pointe work. Fingers crossed from them all and for your Dd's exam on Friday!

  5. I was friends with a girl at school who was 4 months younger than me but she had come up a year. I was the June and she was the following October birthday. She did struggle a bit socially but was very bright and still is! (We are 40 this year!). I think a lot depends on the child, the school, the parents and the genes!

  6. We struggle getting my DD to eat enough through the day at school although she makes up for it at home. Sometimes she goes straight from school to dancing so it makes the situation worse. I have started making her a electrolyte drink for dancing and this has stopped her getting headaches so much. Plus lots of healthy snacks. She is 11 (today) but still in 8-9 clothes and very skinny. I think it'll be worse when she's at secondary school and hits puberty!

  7. I imagine what is meant is that they took someone on physique and potential from audition rather than talent. Someone may well be talented but not have the potential to progress in that school or program. I think that was what was meant. Did the person have to leave if a mistake was made?
