  1. Hi thank you for your replies :) my dd is in grade 3 in ballet but in the jazz and tap they don't seem to do exams in that . Not really sure what is involved in there jazz /tap classes but she went from inter stage to senior 1 when she moved to grade 3 ballet . I watched a class in her new one and it was very fast paced and she struggled to keep up . They have a different teacher for jazz and tap and she didn't seem to have much interest in the new ones or reassuring them . And because she is still young and quite shy she didn't like asking questions or help. I might have another chat with her ballet teacher who also is principal and see what she thinks . The other girls settled in after a few weeks I tried to get her to give it a chance but she was getting too upset so left it

  2. Hi thank you for reply :) in her school it's normal process to move up to both and she did move up with a friend but I think what put her off was that the girls in new class were a lot older and she felt she couldn't keep up and wasn't good enough!. I had a word with her teacher and she said if she changed her mind she could re start when ready but she doesn't seem to want to return! . I might have a word with her and see if she would like to go back to junior I never thought of that. Thank you x

  3. Sorry if this has been asked before! My dd is only 8 so just starting out really , but was wondering something. She started ballet , tap and jazz from 4 and loved it all. Last year she moved up to grade 3 ballet which meant she went up to senior tap and jazz. After a few weeks she got upset and told me she didn't like jazz and tap anymore so I said not to worry you can stop and just do ballet;which she loves). She has just auditioned for junior associates , and my question is does the fact that she just does ballet affect her getting chances in the future for full time ballet schools? If that's what she wants to do. Sorry if it's long winded u am new to all this and haven't a clue!!

  4. I was going to ask if anyone here went to Birmingham today! My dd had a great time she came out excited and was telling me what they had to do...it does put things into perspective when you see how many children there though so not feeling confident , but all that matters is that her first audition was fun for her!! Oh she auditioned for year 4 too x

  7. Thank you everyone for your advice and info :) I really haven't got a clue what I'm doing but am trying my best to find out!! Luckily I bought her some new ballet shoes a few months ago so they are fine . I like the colour of my dd schools leotard it's a lovely pink colour so will send her in that then :) thanks again x

  8. I am so glad I found this place as everyone is so helpful and supportive:) I just seem to be going along with what her teacher thinks and yes it is exciting but I'm scared for her too! And I agree even though I have just started out her dancing has took over my life so much it's scary and her dad doesn't take any interest at all so it feels it's all down to me !! but I will help her as much as I can x

To be honest i was in 2 minds to let her audition as I wanted to just keep her dancing simple but seem to be getting swept along with it all!! And an worried that it will get to much for me and dd. how do you all cope with it? And is it worth it? Fingers crossed for you all xx

  10. Hi we went to Birmingham for the JA for a day too but my dd wasn't well so kept coming up to me saying she had tummy ache ..didn't help that she had not eaten anything age says she wasn't nervous but I think she was!! So she didn't enjoy it as much as she should. She is auditioning on the 8th or 9th may and yes it is hard when they know children there as they just seem to expect they will get a place but have tried to explain to her the limited number of places available . Hope it goes well for your daughter and let me know how she goes on

  11. hi happymum , my daughter is 8 too and it is her first audition . we will be at birmingham. she desperatley wants to be a JA too as her friend got a place last year and her other 3 friends are at elmhurst, but trying to keep it low key as don't want to get her hopes up just told her to try and treat it like a normal class and enjoy it :) good luck to your dd x
