IMO this is the best production of Nutcracker ,I see from the casting that Laura Day is due to perform Clara a perfect casting , I have seen this young lady through her years at the RBS a super dancer (wondered if her size would hinder her) but she has found the ideal company ,just wish I could see the performance.

It was Papillon and Piege de lumiere

Re Jeanne d'arc - I couldn't find who choreographed it but it was danced by Eleonora Vlasova and Yuri Grigoriev.
I know Anna Pavlova danced a solo "Papillons" - but i don't know if she went up in flames!
You are on the right track ,one is a three act the other one act.

Jeanne D'Arc?
can't think of another......

Who choreographed that? A clue both were Lepidopteras !!

In which TWO ballets does the heroine go up in flames .

In which ballet does the lead male character joyfully present a dead rabbit to the ballerina? In which ballet does the ballerina fall from a horse and later salute a fountain? In which ballet do we get to see the pink frills on the priest's long johns? In which ballet does a sneezer blast an entangled pas de quatre? (hint: it all may happen in the same ballet... making a little promo here )
Taming of the Shrew

I totally agree with Aileen about Nicholas Le Riche ,perhaps it is the only way for him to get an award for that masterly performance ( can't say it is classical!),also Nancy Osbaldeston ,super little dancer ,but the doll in Petrushka is neither classical nor in my mind very difficult .

Surprising choice as he was not trained in the Vaganova method ,perhaps it will be an administrative post(hence his recent law studies) ,.

I was told that Antonio Castilla (teacher at White Lodge) is going to replace him ,but no explanation on his sudden departure ,there might be something on the ENB website soon.
