The interview was so interesting and I would love to attend an insight about this Giselle production. Shame it could not have been added onto this run but Mr Ratmansky must be very busy. He did say it was an interesting idea if it could be organised. There’s a challenge!

Yes it does indeed...but clearly the Act 2 set used by UUB is not the current BRB Act 2 set. Perhaps it's from a previous production?
I think in his talk Mr Ratmansky said the set for Act 2 was from The Dream.

What a wonderful matinee- emotional and educational. I liked this production very much, prefer the peasant pdd.
is the dancing “softer” - if that is the appropriate term? It seemed so to me.
the music was sprightly too!
wish I could see it again - couldn’t take it all in.

Bought my ticket for Thursday matinee yesterday and very much looking forward to this performance. Be interested to read reports from forum members.
Hope it’s a great opening night.

Did anybody stop to admire the pre-raphaelite paintings? Worth the trip to see those.

Jamesrhblack- I agree with your comments re Hayward and Nagdhi -I felt the same at the matinée.
But the feeling of both pieces was unaffected.- 1

Well that cheered me. Some new pieces & dancers, a live orchestra. Agree stage was too small and where we sat (balcony) that meant we couldn’t see the dancers easily when they moved front.
Beautiful theatre though and what a lovely audience - no mobiles, talking etc. I still don’t agree with bringing glasses into the auditorium.
My mother, who did see Nureyev with Fonteyn, thoroughly enjoyed the whole show. I was moved by the Bayadere piece and the Don Juan and found the bravura pieces thrilling.
Hope that Mair was ok after that slip - she finished like a true professional.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Fiona. I was there yesterday too and very close to the stage which made it even more exciting. I thought it was clever and liked the production very much. No sound glitches that I noticed. All the dancers were terrific, fully committed. All received well deserved applause.
I was with a companion who knew the story but nothing specific about the cast (not a ballet regular) and she was blown away by the show and came away full of enthusiasm.

Terrible news- I have learnt so much from this channel - music, art, dance, science. One of the few that does not patronise the audience.

I agree with you JNC. However, to lose Bayadere from the rep would be a tragedy, especially as who knows when/if we will be able to see performances of Russian companies again, either here or in Russia.

Great news - congratulations to both dancers - well deserved.

Force of Nature Natalia on Sky Arts, Wednesday 18th May, I think at 8 am, or around then.
Was it a coincidence this was shown on May 18 - Ms Osipova’s birthday?

Just caught a couple of glimpses of Hirano - was he a mentor?

The duet with the ballerina and street dancer was good - I was impressed with the young man

Just watched the ballerina from Elmhurst- very entertaining

What a super evening- last minute decision to attend but so glad I did. Music, dancers, costumes, productions all excellent. Thanks to Forum posts I went for a high up view to better see the patterns.
First time for me to see Scenes and wow- and yes to Sleeping Beauty homage.
Month - a perfect gem. So much happening but such clarity to this piece.
Rhapsody - yes it was! Terrific piece to close on.
Everyone around me in the Amphi was so thrilled with this triple bill. More please. Deserves a longer run.

Great pictures Quintus - lucky you. Today I saw a bearded tit - after visiting my local site for decades and a marsh harrier

Whilst I did overall enjoy the bill on balance I do echo a lot of the disappointment.
would I want to go see any of these works again, either during this run or in a future run - no.
I think there is merit in commissioning new work and they have to be experimental as well so of course some works will inevitably fail. But it’s worrying that much new output seems to fall into this category for me at least.
A similar question is would I go and see a contemporary mixed bill at ROH again when I know it’s just going to be variations on this again? I don’t know but if lots of people were disappointed by this evening the answer is likely to be no and that’s quite worrying with regard to the sustainability (both artistically and financially) of new works.
Where are the Ashtons and Balanchines of our time?
Mr Ratmansky - cannot think of another

Absolutely - I read somewhere that Vadim has danced in 14 different productions of Swan Lake, so I'm sure he can deal with 4 different Odette/Odiles! Even so it'll be a unique experience for him. I wonder who came up with this idea?
I'm a bit upset that so little notice was given although It's fantastic that it sold out so quickly. I do hope they release more tickets
I am sure that Muntagirov would be very keen to do this performance given his views about the issue

I’m trying to remain calm here - I missed her in 2020 due to shutdown and I’m missing her again tomorrow ….😩
Ah such a shame Pat. I missed Osipova & Hallberg in 2020 by one day if I recall correctly. It is disappointing.

I think La Scala has the Nureyev Don Q which Osipova danced with Sarafanov if I recall correctly.
