Don't we all love our ice creams! Can anyone remember which theatre it is has the wonderful Minghella ice creams (from Isle of Wight)?
Best ice cream has to be their ginger and honey.

That was the most stressful booking session I can recall - crazy. Don't know if the new package deals made it worse, but it really was seriously bad. Like others, I'm not entirely sure I got what I meant to or whether they're being posted or I collect them. Feel really sorry for unfortunate Opera House box office staff, who must have had an appalling day dealing with a string of upset and cross would-be ticket buyers.

Loved it! I wish they (or someone) would bring back Christopher Bruce's "Hurricane".

Any clues on casting for Lest We Forget? It's not that long till April and the Barbican.

If I realize I've mis-keyed, is there no way of going back to something I've posted and correcting my bad typing? I hate spotting that I got a name wrong!

Just tidying a shelf and came upon 2001 programme for Giselle for Cojacaru and Kobborg the night she was promoted. Brought back brilliant memories.

The casting information seems to have disappeared from the ROH website. Does this mean there will be changes, I wonder?
I can't get to it either. How come some people can? Any clues?

Sorry to be pedantic but this thread is headed 2013 and I nearly skipped over it.

In today's Dance Links section!

Many thanks for finding this! This has all brought back great memories of early ballet-going days. I was lucky enough to see Helpman and Ashton as the ugly sisters in Cinderella too.

As of a few minutes ago there were some tickets available at various prices for tonight's performance, which is the last one in the run.
And what a last night it was. Fabulous!

Well they used to do the Nutcracker at the Festival Hall for years and then started to use the Coli. I only dressed for them at the Coli.....at least Im pretty certain I didnt dress when they were at Festival Hall......so must have moved there mid 70's (74-76?)
Will have to check this out with friend in Oz as she did it with me and will remember whose production had the big teapot!
Wasn't there quite a good Old Mother Hubbard character as well with children dancing out from under her huge skirt?
I'm sure I'm muddling up productions but will get back to you about the teapot!
Ah yes, the Mother Hubbard and children coming out from under the skirt. But that rings a bell from my very early ballet-going days, back in late 60s. I need to hunt through old programmes at my mother's house to see what I can turn up. Unless ENB have an archive going back to their earlier days.

Lest We Forget? Any clues on casting for this as yet?

I share the teapot memory! I think it was in the London Festival Ballet Nutcracker, which I saw a couple of times in childhood. Sadly I remember very little of the producton, apart from this image of a huge willow pattern teapot in the Chinese dance. I think one of the dancers had to lift the lid and jump out!
That sounds like the one! I wish I could remember more about it. Glad to know it wasn't false memory syndrome.

Sure I saw a version of the Nutcracker many many moons ago with a dance featuring a giant teapot - either Royal Ballet or Festival Ballet (yes, going back that far!) - can anyone out there help me out with this?

Heavens - this topic has moved on so fast I've lost track! I have a feeling my first Mayerling was Eagling/Ferri. Really I'm talking 25 years ago watching RB with some exceptional dancers. I saw Eagling several times back in the 80s and he was superb - beautiful line and great acting. And Ferri at RB was phenomenal - the one I saw most and loved.
Well, I will have to dig out the old programmes from cupboard under stairs to confirm what I in fact saw.....
I saw Ferri and Eagling dance Romeo and Juliet 29 years ago on the night my first baby was due - luckily he was two weeks late or I'd have missed one of the best performances I ever saw in a lifetime of ballet watching.

Daisy dance I hardly ever use the ROH app on my iPad for similar type reasons......in the end I always sign in to the main website if I want to buy tickets!
So maddening isn't it! Some apps seem much more trouble than they're worth. Today on the main site, though, the restaurant link wasn't working and kept going in a loop - it always seems to take forever to remove the glitches when a site gets updated/improved. Very pleased to see the biogs are there at last.

Mostly hoorah - but having big problems trying to get anywhere with a smartphone. It was really easy to use the old website rather than the app on my phone. The app won't let me select my own seats.

Such a shame it's not selling better. Thanks for the useful advice on timing too.

Does anyone have any ideas please on the likely running time for the friends rehearsal on 17th December?
-
How can we persuade more cinemas to take these? Say the Curzon group? Or independents like The Flavel in Dartmouth and The Dartington Barn, which take the ROH and NT. So many more of us would love to get the chance to see them.

I only know a few placements from the 2013 graduates: National Dance Company of Wales, Apprentice Dancer at Scottish Dance Theatre, Matthew Bourne, Balletboyz, Cullberg Ballet, Ballet Junior de Geneve.
In the past couple of years or so others have gone to Rambert Dance Company, Phoenix Dance Theatre, ENB, Northern Ballet, Scottish Ballet, Hofesh Shechter, Richard Alston and so on.
Thanks for this update. It'd be interesting if they'd publish a list. Bet the recent graduates wish they'd been amongst the first to use the new HQ.
-
How about the Rambert? Does anyone know about them please?
-
How do I get onto English-language versions of these please? Or am I being thick?

How was the saturday eve performance? Who finally danced the leads - casting changed after injury to Masha and varied on different websites? Anyone know where Smirnova is next to be seen in UK (or Paris)? Or Vasiliev?

Great name for a coffee shop! It was an early ambition of mine to have shop called Just Desserts. Sadly, never fulfilled that ambition (and didn't become a ballerina either).
