That sounds like a perfect Pas de Six! As I'm going to see Lauren & Federico on 23rd March, I hope I get to see them!
It was indeed the perfect Pas de Six. And young Matthew Ball gets better and better. Lauren recovered well from slight mishap with veil. Huge thanks to her and Frederico for stepping in at such short notice.

I was at the rehearsal in question, so here are some photos before Natalia had to withdraw because of the injury. Such a shame as she and Matthew Golding were in such sync, that i'm sure the performance would have been spectacular, Lets all hope she makes it to her shows in March.

What a shame for them to happen so late on. Was it a major injury?

It is the cast with Sarah Lamb, as I understand it
that's what I heard too

Sky Arts seem to be having a ballet week this coming week. However, most of it is repeats with the honourable exception of the Royal Ballet's Elizabeth I debuting tomorrow (Monday 15th) at 8pm until 9.35 starring Acosta/Yanowsky. It is repeated the following Saturday and Sunday. It is preceded by a South Bank Carlos Acosta Masterclass 7-8pm. I'll outline some other highlights.
Monday 15th. 2pm Kish/Yanowsky Swan Lake followed by a documentary Madam and the Dying Swan at 4.25.
Tuesday 16th. 3pm Sleeping Beauty; Polunin/Cuthbertson repeated Wed. 17th 8am.
Thursday 18th. 7am Repeat of Acosta Masterclass. 8am La Bayadere Acosta/Rojo/Nunez followed by repeat of Madam and the Dying Swan at 10.10am.
Friday 19th.2pm Romeo and Juliet; Cuthbertson/Bonelli. Repeated Saturday 7.35am.
Saturday 20th. 4pm Acosta Masterclass. 5pm. repeat of Elizabeth. 6.35 Roland Petit's Le Rendez-vous.
Sunday 21st. 8am Giselle. Acosta/Osipova. 1pm Carlos Masterclass. 2pm Elizabeth.
Looks like Elizabeth (Acosta/Yanowsky) is on Sky Arts on Monday (15th) at 8pm.

Rumour has it that SkyArts will be showing Elizabeth at some point - it's certainly being filmed. Fingers crossed.

Pretty sure Golding has/is dancing with Roberto Bolle in his And Friends Galas been a few photos/video on Twitter unless I am very much mistaken.
Displaying my ignorance here, but which gala is that? Where/when is it, please?

Matthew Hart's ballet Dances with Death was about AIDS.
He has spoken of the his struggle as a young, inexperienced choreographer to get this work on stage and reviews were very (shall we say, 'mixed') but it certainly spoke loudly about a contemporary concern in the 1990s.
Off the track a bit, but what's Matthew Hart doing now?

terribly sad news - we have many happy memories of seeing her when we first started watching RB together

Osmolkina was there and did a slightly underpowered Sleeping Beauty with Picone. Kondaurova and Zelensky were very entertaining in Scheherazade. Novikova and Kimin closed the night with a nice Don Q and Cojocaru and Kobborg did the suicide scene from Mayerling. But for me the (maybe surprising) standout was Iana Salenko and Marian Walters doing Grand Pas Classique. They have technique coming out of their ears, especially her, and a lovely stage persona together. A good night. The audience watching was as good as the show in fact - so many Romanov-style evening gowns it's as if the Revolution never happened....
I agree about some of the audience's clothes - particularly amusing when seen later in the cloakroom putting on warm puffa jackets on top of gowns.

Aren't there boxes at the back of the stalls of the Coliseum?

We saw young Cesar last night in Swan Lake with the ENB - what a brilliant young dancer. Well done Tamara Rojo on having this exciting young dancer join the ENB.

There was that Mayerling a few years back, when all 5 leads were changed on the night.... (as I recall)
(edit to correct the name of the ballet)
There was also an Onegin some time ago where there so many substitutions that it was felt necessary to make an apology before the start. Quite a lot of the audience left.

Great news. She was in class so recently.

Thanks, daisydance. I put together a calendar for my own trip planning purposes, but then companies kept changing their schedules or announcing their programs later (yes, I'm looking at you Sadler's Wells) so that it got all out of date and I didn't want to post something on my website that could be misleading.
What a shame after all your hard work. The calendar you did for 2014 was invaluable in leading me to first ever ballet trips to Milan and New York, so many many thanks for all you did.

Vienna State Ballet is doing the Lacotte (Taglioni) version in May and June
Slovak National Theatre Ballet in January and March in Bratislava (Bournonville version)
Royal Danish Ballet is doing their new production (Hubbe after Bournonville) in February in Copenhagen
New York City Ballet is doing Bournonville version in New York in May.
You're a veritable fount of wisdom - brilliant. (Are you doing another of those terrific annual schedules like you did for 2014? It was tremendous work and much appreciated.)

I generally don't like to post about rehearsals but I have to say that Claire Calvert was simply stunning in the final Aeternum pd2 this afternoon. I'm still shaking!
Same here. Watching that performance had me speculating which roles she ought to be dancing.
She was absolutely stunning. Wonderful pd2.

Have the ROH Spring magazines gone out? Been house moving and lost track.

Any sign of this being relayed elsewhere? We live in hope...

Tremendous evening - brilliant programming these three pieces made. Lovely to see Diana Vishneva.
(Just made it to Waterloo in time for 10.50 train, having walked at double-quick time over bridge. We'd realised 9.51 was way out, when it came and went and DSCH hadn't even started!)
-
Also slightly off topic, but does anyone know how to get hold of DVD of Broken Fall? I'm sure that Channel 4 did a brilliant recording of it.

It might be quite expensive to get it done professionally, but from what I can gather it's quite an easy job to transfer VHS tapes to a computer nowadays.
Without looking into it in too much depth, you'll need a special cable that goes from your VHS player into your computer (cost c. £20). From there, you'll just need software that can understand the signal it's getting and convert it to something that can be saved on your computer. Without looking into it, I'm betting you can get a free piece of software from an enthusiast somewhere. Finally, if you want to watch them on DVD, you'll just need some DVD burning software, but a lot of computers come with that installed anyway, but if they don't it's probably only a few quid. So your outlay might be £30-40 tops (but probably nearer £20), but it does mean you can transfer to your heart's content!
Heh. Just googled it and look what I found: http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/honestech-vhs-to-dvd-deluxe-a06jr?gclid=CJ2r3vHJ2L8CFQEXwwodKCkA1A
£30. Bish, bash, and to a certain extent, bosh.
Oh no! Just threw loads of old videos on skip in pre-house move clear out Think they're now buried under ancient mattresses and chair the labrador ate when he was a puppy. Thank goodness I saved all the ballet ones in hope I'd find a way of dealing with them.
-
Nice to know I'm not the only dinosaur (I still have a combined DVDR/VCR - and, I was told in Maplins recently, they're highly in demand for some reason).
So envious of your having that - recently had to chuck many Videos as no longer have a working vcr. Kept favourites with idea of finding somewhere to get them swapped into DVDs, but I gather it's quite pricey.

Rapid rise for young Luca Acri, whom we've been watching very happily this past season. But still not a promotion to Principal level for Yuhui, alas.

I know loads of people who go to Glasto who are all in their 40s and older!
I saw Pink Floyd when I was 16 or 17 (or both!) pre DSOM! At the second gig, they performed DSOM in its entirety pre-vinyl release.
I don't do camping and mud for anyone!!!
Ah - me too. And definitely no camping or mud for me either - had enough of that in pre-Glasto festival days for an entire lifetime. But it's great there's so much coverage on TV. ENB were absolutely brilliant and great to see huge crowd completely enthralled by it. Bravo to them.

I'd only got one problem really with the evening - lots of people around us were having to get ready to leave well before the end, in order to catch trains home - it would have made lives easier if it had been maybe 2 or 3 items shorter. And, sadly, quite a few missed the final 2 pieces, which was such a shame for them. Which 2 I'd have cut, though, I am not at all sure. Certainly not either of the last 2.
