If anyone has a spare ticket, ideally under £20, for any of Osipova's performances in RB's Giselle could you please PM me? Thank you!

I've only been to Zina's classes a few times but love them; they seem to have a very long barre with lots of Demi pointe work, and lovely centre enchaînements.
London Russian Ballet School also do excellent drop in classes!

Having trained in Russia for the last 2 years I think DS would certainly highly recommend Evgeny at London Russian Ballet School.
There are also Russian ballet teachers at danceworks which is more central if Clapham is difficult to get to...
I also highly recommend LRBS for strict Russian ballet training- as well as Evgeny, Anatoly Sidrov is also excellent 😍

Well for a start I'd like to know where such young boys got their stupid facts from and I sincerely hope that someone will have a word about their unacceptable behaviour.
Then see if you can get her to visit a class of older students of vocational level so that they can talk to her and debunk the myths (maybe her Ballet teacher has a suitable young lady that can act as mentor?)
And has your daughter ever seen a live performance of Ballet? If there are any forthcoming productions maybe you could ask to meet a dancer afterwards?
Am actually really upset about these kids, what happened to Pictures dd makes me angry too.
Good luck
Edit to add that if you do everything properly and receive safe training then feet will be fine! You just have to look after them carefully, and hopefully your dd will do that anyway.
Having a mentor is a great idea! I'd be happy to message/write to your dd Xanthe if you think a bit of 'inside knowledge' about the life of a ballet student would help to reassure her
i too was bullied in secondary school.... I vividly remember studying nutrition in biology; the boy sat next to me googled "fat ballerina", picked out the most grotesque image he could find, and said 'oh look, it's you!' This continued for several weeks and really didn't end well..... so it's important that you intervene at your DD's school to make sure the bullying is stopped!!

I looked right through the Grades and it still hadn't shown up at 5. Does seem a tad odd to include something that many of the children aren't old enough to have even studied yet, but hopefully they're just for prompts rather than selection. The school in question is YDA for their associate scheme ages 8-12 - it's not completely clear if they pre-select on photos or if they audition all of them as RBS do.
They're wanting 3 photos:
Demi plié 1st position with arms in second - simple enough. RBS wanted demi plié 1st position with arms in first.
Tendu devant à terre effacé with arms in 4th - the problem one! RBS asked for tendu devant à terre effacé with arms in preparatory.
Tendu a la second à terre en face with arms in 2nd - RBS wanted tendu a la second à terre en face with arms in preparatory.
Although, to be fair, RBS didn't actually say what they wanted for the juniors, just did diagrams - happily they did both descriptions and diagrams for the Mids and Seniors so between that and google we worked out what each one required (prays that the arms were in preparatory)! I'm starting to think the schools should all offer a prize to the parent who best interprets the photo requirements with extra points given for originality and any new ballet moves invented in the process!
I'm going to have a bash at taking them on Tuesday as her school has lots of lovely white walls I can stand her in front of.
The tendu devant effacé with arms in 4th is required for RBS SA and upper school- so the one DrDance posted is correct; if the right leg is extended in the tendu efface, the left arm will be high in 5th/en haut/en couronné, with the right arm in 2nd ?

The "Royal Ballet School Diaries" by Alexandra Moss would be a good starting point; they're children's books but always seemed very insightful to me!!! Also the RBS Prospectus might be worth a look at x

Thank you! On the Coliseum website, is there the option to select your own seats, rather than selecting a price band & being allocated a seat automatically?
