I am overthinking things. I am sure I can safely tick both boxes without an enormous risk of a call back to the WL finals.

I have just looked and it seems auditions for senior associates are separate from auditions for WL. If you couldn't attend the separate SA audition could you go to the general WL one, or would you have to tick both boxes.

I saw a programme about a family whose parents sold their home and lived in a Travelodge so their daughter could attend Italia Conti. Might have been Got to Dance.

10 sets sounds a lot! How many in each group?

There have been a few discussions on the board recently about Russian training. I came across this article a while ago. There are also some videos on youtube of her dancing there.

May be I am naive but I am struggling with the idea of 16 year old ballet students, drinking and smoking to such an extent that anyone who doesn't feels excluded socially.

Does she teach at Danceworks on a Saturday?

My DD's has done ths from a young age. I have seen her teacher doing it too when she is choreographing a festival dance. It isn't formally learnt, but I wonder if they pick it up by watching others.

So with a Dada you pay £1250 for a years fees. Then do you have to find money for room and board? Is there a scale of contributions depending on parental income? It sounds very expensive.

Is that 14 places for 6.1 at Elmhurst and Tring? That really isn't a lot. How many do RBS have or is it different funding arrangements

Not sure if I am reading this correctly but it looks like DADAs here for another couple of years. At least those applying for 6th form can start planning.

Date: 02 August 2012 Information for 16-19 providers and academies with sixth forms

We will continue to support access to the performing arts sector through the Dance and Drama Awards (DaDA) scheme from 2013/14. The national levels of support for 16-19 year olds will remain the same from 2013/14.

The administration of the scheme is to change. Schools will now be responsible for their own budget management and for undertaking income assessments for new learners.

The Department for Education has written to those schools administering the Dance and Drama Awards to inform them of these changes in more detail.

Useful to know that some kind of feedback is available. I wonder if this would only apply to JA's applying to RBS. It obviously made sense to you HAIRBELLES. I am sure it is so much better to know.

Sorry primrose for all the questions, what do you mean by a very long audition process? Are the physical requirements are more or less the same as in the UK?

I understand a bit better now. Do you think the Russian girls do more (time-wise) at a younger age than girls in vocational school here? At what age do they actually begin full time training?

How exciting to get the opportunity to go to Moscow to train! However I must admit being a bit confused about the course that is being offered by the Bolshoi. From reading bits and pieces online I understand that the foreign girls were doing a special course for foreign students, and that only Joy Womack was doing the same course as the Russian girls.

If anyone has done has done Elmhurst and Royal Ballet Summer school. how do they compare? It looks like at Covent Garden they are taught by some of the RB dancers as well or is that just for an odd class?

Has anyone got into Elmhurst through the summer school or are none of the regular staff or Artistic director there?

And finally is the Elmhurst Summer school a lot easier to get into?

One of the reasons I asked about DVD's was that even if we found a suitable class it would be one day a week and I am presuming, but not sure that in order to get full benefit some of the exercises would have to be done more often than that to get maximum improvement to strength.

Ballet lessons are really,really expensive. I work with a lot of children from poor backgrounds and even one class a week would be prohibitive for their families. One 9 year old was in tears when she told me she couldn't continue with her one lesson a week as her Mum couldn't afford it any more.

DD has been told to do exercises to improve core strength. She is expected to do these in her own time. She has been shown some which are pilates based and they sometimes do them in class. But I suppose this isn't enough. I thought a DVD would help a bit with motivation and structure.

I think but don't know she does them correctly.

Thank you. All 3 look good but I wonder if any of them particularly suitable for 12 year old.

Has anyone come across a pilates DVD which would be suitable for ballet students?
