Picturesinthefirelight Posted August 20, 2016 Share Posted August 20, 2016 I know this isn't dance but ive seen so many posts about dancers afraid to sing at auditions etc & dh has worked with lots of dancers who need to be sing I thought this might be of interest. A couple of weeks ago dd was privileged to have a private singing lesson with Dr Gillyanne Kayes (co-author of Singing & the Actor & This Is A Voice) to address some problems she was having. It was absolutely fantastic. Gillyanne & Jeremy Fisher are internationally renowned including being vocal coaches on The Voice & for many musical theatre performers. It was such a useful session & has made her much more confident about her singing. They are doing a rare one day workshop & masterclass in Chester on 17th September called This Is A Voice which covers both vocal health & how to improve your singing technique. Then in an open masterclass session they will work with 3 musical theatre students from The Hammond. The workshop is suitable for teachers, speech therapists & singers/students/dancers who need to sing. We asked about children (for dd) & were told that was fine but under 16s must be accompanied by an adult. If perhaps there were a few boarders together would they arrange a chaperone - do you know if this dirt if thing happens? My DD would love it!
