Jan McNulty Posted May 4, 2012 Share Posted May 4, 2012 Sadler’s Wells streams international hip hop dance festival Breakin’ Convention live via The Space On Bank Holiday Monday 7 May, Sadler’s Wells’ annual international festival of hip hop dance, Breakin’ Convention, will be streamed live to audiences all over the world through The Space. Breakin’ Convention is the first dance event in The Space offering audiences the opportunity to see all aspects of the international hip hop dance festival, from foyer events to more intimate performances in the Lilian Baylis Studio, to performances on the Main Stage as well as interviews with the artists and exclusive backstage access, co-hosted by BBC 1Xtra DJ Sarah Love. Audiences will be able to watch from 4pm on Monday 7 May via www.thespace.org. It features some of the very best UK and international acts in hip hop dance, offering audiences a range of different styles from breaking and popping to locking, b-boying and newer styles such as house dance, devised from the dance floors and born out of club culture. There are also dozens of extra events in the mix including workshops, film screenings, DJ demos, impromptu foyer freestyle sessions and even live aerosol art. The Space is a new on-demand initiative by the Arts Council England in partnership with the BBC that offers audiences a new way to experience some of the most exciting arts events from across the UK. The Space runs for six months, from May to October 2012 giving audiences unique access through their computer, tablet, mobile or connected TV. Breakin’ Convention runs at Sadler’s Wells over the May Bank Holiday Weekend, Saturday 5 – Monday 7 May, followed by a national tour.
