Hi
Thanks for your reply
She already goes to another jazz class ( an associate class )and does 3 ballet classes a week and one session of swimming so I think that maybe she is doing enough!

Hi ,
My daughter came out a jazz class saying that the teacher pushes them down to make them stretch more and the girls were a little upset and in pain ??! -Iim not sure if this is acceptable practice? she's only 8 yrs!
Anyway that plus a few other things has cheesed me and her off completely - shes' not going there any more !
She s good at ballet but needs to become more flexible any dvd's etc out there that we could invest in instead of this jazz lesson ?

My daughter did the summer MBT and our experience was excellent !

The prizes for Midland RAD juniors were special commendations(plus a RAD mug!) and the main was a RAD day of dance/course- I think! My DD won a special commendation so she was pleased ! They were all given beautiful pink certificates !

Thanks faraway dancer !

yes. good advice thanks .she says she wants to go to ballet school when she's older so I thought the more she tries for these different things the better as there are bound to be lots of nos as well as yeses along the way !
She recently got through to regional finals - national dance comp and a no letter from RBS ..her confidence has had a little knock so I've realised she need to go for different things especially as she wants to do so well

Hi,
What are your experiences of these classes ?
I've heard from a friend that her DD did not really enjoy them and lost her confidence a bit ..I'm a bit worried to hear this because thought it would be good for my DD to not only do an extra ballet class but make new friends?
Grateful if you have time to share yr experience
Thanks

Hi this thread has been helpful and interesting reading My DD whose aged 8yr was devastated to get a no .....hoping that she will want to try again next year
How much swimming?
in Doing Dance

Hi
My DD is 9 and her ballet teacher has told her not to do too much swimming ( one session per week is ok ) as it will alter her shape and make it more difficult for her to become a ballerina?
My DD swimming club want her to do more swimming especially at competitions as she is very good at this too !
I was surprised to learn today of another girl that does both ballet and swimming at a competitive level - her ballet school/teacher hasn't said shes needs to worry !
i'm confused now and obviously don't want to affect my daughters chances of being able to follow her dreams with ballet but wanted to know what you all know or think about this ?
Thanks
