  1. DD has just had an email offering DADA funding for Tring sixth form - declined immediately, as she is over the moon to be starting at Central in September - so good news will be following for at least one other  ;)   :)

  2. DD received her uniform list from Central today - very exciting ! They want payment by 12th May, which means a financial commitment - DC's with more than one offer will probably make a decision . May help those on the waiting list if places become available  :)

  3. Central and Rambert are affiliate schools of the Conservatoire for Dance and Drama, which offers a fee reduction scheme. According to website :

The Conservatoire is a publicly-funded institution. UK and EU students are eligible for government-sponsored loans and grants as well as financial aid provided by the Conservatoire and schools

  4. I know of at least ons still waiting to hear. My DD is going to Central, so all done and dusted for us luckily. Really feel for those still left hanging in limbo especially with the GCSE's now upon us. Really think all this should be done in a short sharp burst after the exams have finished x

  5. I wouldn't be too sure about that . too k this from London Studio Centre's page about their BA Honours degree :

Following the publication of the Browne Report in October 2010, the Government announced that the current cap on University tuition fees would be removed.  London Studio Centre as a private institution is not bound by the £9,000 fee cap and will therefore remain charging its full tuition fee. Students on the Degree programme will be able to access student loans of £6,000 and will be required to fund the remaining amount should they be successfully accepted onto the course.

There are no Government Funded Places or Dance and Drama Awards available at London Studio Centre.

London Studio Centre is committed to supporting students unable to fund their fees and has a range of support available. Please see our section Student Support for information about scholarships, Student Loans Contributions and other support available.

COURSE FEES:     Audition Fee For All Courses* £40

2014/15     Degree Course Fees:     Full Tuition Fees Per Annum £13,250.00

Including Middlesex University Registration fee of £670**

So, if BTUK is a private institution, then it looks to me that students would only have access to £6000

  6. Everyone danced beautifully and should be really proud of themselves - there can only be so many winners, and they were lovely !It was so nice to see all the individual dancers and their costumes. Good luck to the winners in Antwerp xx

  7. There are some twin studios to share , which works out nearly £8000 per year for each. The single rooms grouped  in clusters start at around £11,500.I spoke to someone today and quite a lot of Central students are there, but must be beyond reach unless you share.  Students also need a UK guarantor to be able to pay instalments. Does anyone know where else Central students stay ?

  8. DD received an email from Central today saying she is on the waiting list. :)

Congratulations - i know of at least one who isn't sure where she is going, so fingers crossed for you xx

  9. Thank you for all your kind thoughts. My dd ws very upset yesterday as she knows that this was her last chance. She tried but the competition this year has been fierce so she understands that she is just not good enough.

This morning though she has bounced back and is going to accept her place at the local 6th form college and see what new direction life takes. I am sure that dance will still be a part of it!

Best of luck to everyone whether dancing or not!

All the very best to her - good luck xxx

  10. I wonder if they are all out or whether they have just sent out the definite 'no' and 'yes' letters so they can see how many accept before sending out the next ones. Its not long to accept! Jazzpaws, did the letter come addressed to your dd & was it thicker than a normal envelope? My dd is away at present, so if there is a letter at home tonight when we get in, we will stil have no idea. Don't want to spoil her holidays if its a 'no'! :-)

Hi - the letter was addressed to her, BUT it was in a normal small envelope with a window - very scary - we watched postie walk to the door and she had to pluck up courage to get the letter - no clues there I'm afraid xx
