  1. Thank you dance is life, I agree, it's lovely but we've been to Covent Garden many times and I think they'd like to do something different this time, also they've been saving up some Christmas money to spend but I thought it would be nice to see some different options than the usual high street stores, I think they have clothes shopping and other teenage girl stuff in mind

Edited because my iPad just ran out of battery half way through

  2. Best tip I can offer is not to cut the ribbon but to sew them in in one continuous length. That way, when being worn, the heel of the foot is helping to hold them in place and less pressure is on the stitching, but you probably already knew that. Did has a pair of suffolks atm which I ended up sewing ribbons in a couple of weeks ago. She normally does her own but we were under time constraints and I wanted her doing other things ( plus I quite enjoy the chance to help her - she's so Independant these days and I miss my little girl) I have to say, I found them much easier to sew than other brands she's had (Bloch, grishko and freed) they felt really well made and it was easy to stitch the ribbon into the lining without catching the satin ( very robust lining) I don't even know they are still manufactured tbh

  3. Thank you so much baby ballet, that's great info, I got quite a shock last time I went to London and got on a bus with a handful of change, the driver looked at me like I was an alien and to compound my embarrassment I'd left my contactless card on the coffee table at home ( after a little online shopping the night before) All I can say is that after what seemed like a very prolonged circular conversation the driver got very upset with me and told me to just go and sit down and forget it! I ended up walking for the rest of the day, it seemed easier! I realise I probably sound about a hundred and ten now and SO out of touch but the world seems to change very quickly! I was also confused by people appearing to pay for their travel by phone contactlessly, what's that about?

Hard to believe I know but when I was 16 I started working in London and spent a couple of years commuting in and working as a temp in and around the city, it honestly doesn't seem like that long ago but these days I feel like a real country girl!

  4. I think I have decided on driving to RAD, leave the car there, taxi to Camden ( hopefully saving time and stress) lunch, shopping, drop girls to Euston then make my own way back to the car by any means possible. Unless anyone can suggest somewhere vaguely near Camden Where parking would be available on a Sunday (it suggests on the website not to drive as parking is an issue)

  5. Thanks for replies so far. So I've got to put girls on a train at Euston eventually, would rad ( finishing at lunchtime) to Camden market then onto Euston be doable or would I be better off forgetting Camden market and heading to more well known areas like Oxford street/ Covent Garden ?

Edited to add, I have no idea where Euston station is in relation to the others, or even where they are in relation to each other

  6. Sorry if this is in the wrong place. I am going to RAD Hq in Battersea next weekend and when we've finished there I want to take girls shopping. Camden market has been recommended as a great place to take them but I have no idea how to get there from Battersea. I will drive to Battersea as I've been there before and know where I can park but I'm not sure what to do from there. I am not really confident driving around London and I don't know it very well. I am tempted to leave the car in Battersea and use public transport to get around but I know that there isn't a tube station near Battersea Square. I want to get myself and two teens to Camden Market then possibly on somewhere else like Oxford/Regent Street if we have time, then I'll be putting them on a train and I'll need to get back to my car. Can anyone suggest how I go about travelling around London? Should I move the car or use tube/buses? Also I know you can't now use cash on buses, how do I go about paying? Do we all need Oyster cards and if so, where do I get them from? Any help appreciated for a Cityphobe

  7. There is a great place nearby that does the best all day breakfast ( as well as sandwiches, cake etc). If you head from rad back into Battersea square, with Rad behind you to your left head to the top right hand corner of Battersea square, turn right ( there will be a pelican crossing on the corner) follow that road along till you get. To the end. You get to a t junction with the aim road that goes over the bridge, turn left and it's just a couple of doors along. It is walkable in about 5 -7 minutes and a good place to while away an hour or so with coffe/lunch sorry I don't know the names of any of the roads but it's easy to find.

Edited to say, I've just remembered its opposite a large building which I think was Royal Academy of Art

  8. I am panicking more than my boy as he prepares to change school after so long at Tring. Change is always scary. Good luck to everyone on their new adventures xx

Best of luck to your DS Haggis, happily he won't be too far from home so there's nothing you can't overcome between you, I hope you both enjoy the experience xx

  9. I still have available, a girls formal uniform suited to yr 7 possibly yr 8 child. The blazer is size C3 ( although I understand the sizing a may now have changed a bit) the skirt is waist about 21 inch lench 18 inch and I now have the pink top in size C3 also available

  10. Can anyone point me to a website where I can download ( happy to pay reasonable amount) a piece of music for my daughter to enter the choreo comp at her local dance school. I found a website a few years ago called dance festival music and paid a small fee for a piece cut to 90 seconds ( as required) but that website doesn't seem to be fully operational now and I was wondering where people normally get their music ( don't want to infringe any rules)

  11. Thank you Sarah, he was rather put out at first but we made a fuss of him and he made enjoyed the journey in the car. He was looking a whole lot happier once he'd met up with his group of friends and went in looking happy as Larry.

( sorry for the rant but I was putting on a nonchelent face for him when iinside I was so upset for him, it helped to let off steam here)

  12. The young flibbertygibbet of a girl who decides about two three hours before the event that she going to a friends house for pre prom drinks instead of going to prom with your son in the car that you've organised and paid for as has been arranged for weeks! Off now to collect the bloody corsage we've ordered from the florist, too, bloody flighty teenagers, grrr

Edited to add... Not even a phone call, but a text! How rude.....

Of course I know that none of the lovely well brought up young ladies of the forum would be so thoughtless!

  13. Hello Rfc

Love the name (this ballet parent lark seems to be all coffee and waiting ) . I have a 13 yo also on priority waiting list hoping for the same miracle. We have made other arrangements now but I still can't help constantly refreshing my email,

Even though I know how slim the chances are , this is the lot of a ballet mum ????

Ow! I know how that feels. I was round at my sister's, and needed to get into the loft for something. Now, she only has a very heavy steel (I think) stepladder (mine's aluminium). While I was trying to extend it and get it into the loft hatch, I don't quite know what went wrong, but it overbalanced somehow and fell out of the hatch, taking me with it because I wasn't strong enough to hold it back. It ended up falling flat on the floor (heaven knows what the downstairs neighbours thought!) with me on top of it! I had a lovely load of bruises on my legs marking the position of the rungs, and you could still feel the soreness on the bones for weeks afterwards http://www.balletcoforum.com/public/style_emoticons/#EMO_DIR#/sad.png
