  1. I don't think they know about MDS places definitively themselves until the last moment. If a dancer from a school on an MDS auditions for a different school for whatever reason and is successful then their MDS would become available again at the last minute. The results of these other auditions are only just coming out. When my dd auditioned years ago we received a letter before the final informing us of how many children were being invited to the final at Tring and how many places were available. It was a lovely letter expressing congrats to all that had gotten so far and regret that there were not enough places for all the talented children who reached the final. Perhaps a letter like that might be sent this year. The good thing is at Tring they don't keep you hanging around waiting. My friends' sons who were both successful were phoned on the evening of the audition and told they had been awarded funding.

  2. Good luck to the boys tomorrow and to the upper school dancers later.

We enjoyed the day...certainly made to feel welcome. What struck me was how quiet the school is.

There were about 36 girls auditioning in total for yr 7 places. There were 3 gps.. auditionees for yr 7/year 7 and 8 and a third group of yrs 8,9 and 10. These groups rotated for audition/physio/tour and non-verbal reasoning task. It seemed very well organised.

My dd thoroughly enjoyed the audition and felt she had at least been looked at...in the Royal audition she felt they had dismissed her before she started and didn't look at her.

I heard one woman say the results would be out early next week. Who knows.

C4D....we should have arranged to say hello. My dd was in group 2.

  3. Amidst all the excitement awaiting letters, we should spare a thought for some little people who are living the reality of losing their places at the school this past week. Sometimes when talking about available places we forget they come at a huge cost to other children who feel that their dream has gone....am sure that is not true as some parents on the forum have also shown...but I bet it feels that way now for them. Some of the parents might be reading the forum and feeling upset....big hugs to them all!

  4. It is usually about 50 ish who are invited back for about a total of 5 places for the whole lower school ( ie not 5 per year) so the odds are never great! Last year about 52 were invited back but only 34 or so attended the final audition, presumably as they had already accepted places elsewhere.
