  1. DD is doing a Trinity Level 6 in either Musical Theatre or Dance Theatre (it's not been decided yet) & while she is studying she will also take a DDI through ISTD which is a teaching qualification.  She has chosen to do her DDis in Modern & Tap but she could have chosen Ballet

After she has worked in Dance for three years there are several 1yr/18m top up courses to convert her level 6 into a degree like this one at Arts Ed https://artsed.co.uk/evening-courses/evening-courses-home-post-diploma-ba

  2. DD totally floored her teacher at a CAT class as when she walked in she was greeted by the drummer for the contemporary class they were about to do.  He was a substitute for the normal drummer & he recognised DD from the World Music Festival she attends & drums at.

He also said the dancing she did in the class wasn't a patch on the dancing she does at the festival.....

He says if she drops out of dancing she could always play the music for Contemporary classes!! ;)

  3. It sounds so pathetic (& particularly for people who know me as I am a cook from scratch person) but since DD had a blimp with cooking/eating (about the same time last year) I have insisted that she buys ready meals for the freezer.

When she is a bit down, I ring & make her take tomorrows tea out so it's defrosted for the next day, then straight on the microwave (& while it's cooking get the next nights out)

I prefer fresh food & fresh cooking but TBH ATM I am grateful when she is eating so as long as it's good quality it's fine

  4. From another thread where classes for young adults are hard to find which reflects my experience for DD

In our area (Norfolk) our dance school has an advanced class on a Wednesday during the summer holidays, the next school over also had their advanced class on a Wednesday

The theatre school locally had it's advanced class (for street/contemporary) on a Wednesday, as did another school an hour away and a theatre school just an hour away and a further 2 schools in the city

weven allowing for schools preferring for their students to 'only' study at their own school (which is short sighted as most of the older advanced students will be doing associates or vocational school) it makes economic sense to me for them to get together and chose different days of the week so they could maximise their income.

DD went to a lovely course in September but she was the oldest by about 3 years - which was such a shame

TBH I'm not quite sure where I'm going with this thread but it suddenly struck me when I was reading the other one (sorry) and commenting there wouldn't have fitted

  5. I wonder if she would have a word with my DD

When she was 14 (or maybe 15) she crossed London by tube wearing lack leotard, black tights, flipflops & her black leather jacket I didn't know what to say!!

Mind you, she is a bit better now & tbh compared to her contemporaries "going out clubbing" she is quite well covered

  6. My dad feels contact adhesive is best for the suede toe things & I'm a philistine as I use my machine to sew the ribbons on

I was doing a show (helping with costumes) & someone needed their ribbon sewing on - I did it on the machine & they were horrified, until I suggested they unpick it & then sew it themselves

  7. There is a carpark down a side road on the right (if the door to LSCis behind you) LSC is in a triangular traffic island and if you turn right sort of at the apex the carpark is on the right in the side road

  8. FullContretemps, DD is a EE cup but a small band size, so while it's not great, it fits OK (not great)

College is much more flexible - but I love the sainsburys crop top idea
