It's a really lovely thing to do, so thoughtful. I hope it all goes well and it will be a great experience anyway.

The main page does appear in English and the rest could be translated by google?
I would love to go.....

Mark Morris seems to have spent much of his career trying to counterbalance all the misery, and is amusing on the subject of 'why on earth does modern dance have to be so miserable'. His work often has a sense of humour and a lot of joy.

Dreadful for all those taking family as a special treat.
What exactly happened to the water I wonder? too much or too little?

(Funny seeing the beautiful snowflakes stomping off backstage in the interval! Not that they really stomp, of course; but a combination of pointe shoes and turn-out does lead to a rather amusing walking style...).
Oh no! I really don't want to see that...another reason I skoot out in the intervals.. I hate seeing the magic broken!

I very much agree- only once in 25 years have I spoken to someone at the ROH Box Office who was unhelpful. They are very nice, calm and efficient, and I usually go and say hello if anyone is on duty in the hall. They have saved me from various disasters a good few times over the years.

Even putting names next to the bill without saying which ballet next to the programme without saying which ballet they will dance in will be better than zero names - for example, I'm sure Muntagirov, Nunez and Osipova have been told their dates already, to fit their international guesting engagements, some of which may already have had contracts signed.
We don't know that, though, so it is just speculation at this stage.

I am sure the leadership are actually very interested indeed in getting funds in the bank. If there were enough 'millionaire donors' I guess we wouldn't have the price rises we do. My understanding is the theatre had government loans which have to be repaid - but I could be wrong.
As others have said though it is unlikely this will be the bill to fill the coffers, and if casting isn't ready, it isn't ready.
A, B, C casts would be a good idea I agree. The point about filming on 2 nights is also very helpful...that rules out one date....
- and it really isn't going to sell out immediately.

The whistling in the second act was a new low, just not something I want to accompany the score.
How dreadful. Was it more than one person whistling?

everyone just seemed to have rather random whiteish smears with little clouds of chalk visibly coming off dancers.
Good job John McEnroe wasn't in the audience

In my family we have such instances (and I have a niece the same age as me.)
However .....the point is that the uncle feels a parental sort of worry and care for the nephew- so maybe this does need to look plausible onstage. However, I am sure this will be achieved through the magic of theatre!

I suppose Osipova probably won't make it to a 20th anniversary, let alone a 25th, so they decided to do something for her 10th. She did look very touched & slightly teary.
That sounds right- and a very good idea. Especially at the end of a run in which she danced her signature role.

I can empathise with these comments. I wonder, has anyone found they changed their opinion of 'Dante', one way or the other, after a repeat viewing?

You're right I have actually seen some pretty awful frights in re enactments of mystery plays etc.
Not sure the look needs reviving though!

Yes - except I don't think any self-respecting medieval mummer would have been seen dead in a ditch in that costume!

Very good luck to you- green space is a necessity for all, not a luxury.

Also all the onstage shouting might give an audience the idea it's ok to vocalize etc...

I agree totally with this, which is why I didn't mention it, and Magri gave a super performance all round - with so much smiling that managed to look very natural ( though she must have been very nervous in the circs) , which makes a difference in that role.

I had a marvelllous time at my cinema- and feel very sorry for all those who missed out on a lovely performance.
Sim and others had lauded James Hay's performance as Gamache and I was much looking forward to it. Well ....my goodness- it was simply wonderful, worth cycling 3 miles in the cold just for that. The man is an absolute star.
I was also thrilled by Calvin Richardson's Espada- not having seen him dance like that before, He seemed to be channelling the young Jack Nicholson: phew- sizzling! And also very funny.
It was a great show all round- a few minor fluffs but, overall a big success for Magri and Ball and all - , you could feel the happiness in the theatre and if a lot of the audience were new to ballet, it was an ideal introduction.

They look like old fashioned wool knitted Long Johns to me, and that rather gives them comedic value.
Have they borrowed Steptoe's undies?

Lots of organisations I support have raffles like this, and I often - usually, come to think of it - don't want the prize. That does not affect my support for the organisation.
I can't see a problem in this case. Support it or not - nobody is being forced to, and if it raises money- good, they need it.

I'd like to add to their appalling list of so-called freedoms:
Freedom for the performers to clear off in disgust.....

That's true Bruce - I can remember several such productions, (not with huge enthusiasm, personally) - but I think what is particularly apt about this is the special connection with place, with Black Sabbath being a local band. BRB has always been part of the wider and very strong and thriving Birmingham arts scene- which we must all hope may be continued despite so many cuts etc.
