RBS emails out re: online summer school options.... more info early July. Interesting that no mention about costs of the various options yet! Hmmm....But seems pretty much open to all....some smaller groups with visuals & corrections possible (first cone first serve....bet it’ll be like trying to buy top concert tickets with the whole world of ballet parents all logging on at same time minute they are open to book 🤣) but most sessions will be limitless numbers of attendees so no visuals for corrections etc of students....

Bet this will become an annual money spinner event in addition to traditional audition entry intensives!!
Have heard that (individual?) current RBS pupil/s getting ‘invited to join masterclasses for ‘free’ which goes against what the webpage says - no concessions/funding - but who knows what’s genuine feedback?
I feel sad for those who had gained places at intensives & feel that rather than making this an open to all money maker they should have honoured the success of those pupils & provided aN exclusive course just for them (my DC wouldn’t be amongst them btw, just feel those who succeeded should be rewarded!)

My dd had a place at RBS for the cancelled intensives and we are queuing with everyone. All in the same boat! 😁

Can I check if there is any yes for London or Eastleigh as it looks only SWL for these so far. Could this be due to unclarity regarding social distancing/ changes to zoom classes/ venues opening?

It’s a yes in London for my dd. SWL last year.

Hi everyone! Has anyone received any news in regards to the waiting list for London? Or any another centre?

Hello, we are on the SWL for London year 5 (girl) and haven’t heard anything. I think the only chance now is if someone is a no show when the program begins.

Hello @Ed_DanceMum the offer letter just said accept or decline as soon as possible so they could offer any declined places to others. Once I’d accepted I got the handbook and that had a deadline of 1st July to complete the student information.

    Fingers crossed for you.

Thanks for the information it is very appreciated by all the SWL’s. Do you know when payment is due?  Sometimes there’s movement around that time.

Out of interest, does anyone know why certain medals (gold in one category, silver and bronze in another) were not awarded?  I always find this strange if the medals are equivalent to 1st, 2nd and 3rd.  Was there only one couple competing in the pas de deux category?

I believe there were three pas de deux entries.

My understanding is that the score has to be sufficiently high enough to reach the designated thresholds for the medals. I could however, be entirely wrong 🙂

That seems to be the worry, it feels like the

We know (through my partners work) an ex RB principal who went on to be Artistic Director of a couple of major companies. He ‘warned us’ that a career in dance carries a disproportionate amount of disappointment, and it’s important to be able to deal with that. His advice was that if you can’t deal with it, don’t bother. Fortunately when I explained to my DS about the SWL, he was more bothered that he might have put the wrong Lego set on his birthday list. I wish my brain worked like that 😂

I love that!  LEGO is very important 😁.

Kids are so resilient. Learning how to handle rejection is key to persevering in the future. My dd has been acting professionally for a few years now and consistent rejection is just a normal part of it 🤪 she knows it’s not personal and never takes it to heart, she just has fun with it all 🙂

Trying not to ‘overthink’ this whole process is brain ache. As I think towards next year, and thinking about your son getting a ‘Y5 yes’, it makes me think just how slim that possibility is? What an amazing achievement!!!

My presumption (and maybe I’m completely wrong) is that Y4s would rise to Y5, Y5’s would rise to Y6s, Y6s would leave the JAs.... and the only genuinely available space would be a fresh intake of Y4s? If that was the case, the possibilities of getting a Y5 space or Y6 would be the fewest, given that those places are already occupied/reserved for those moving up?

I need a holiday from my own brain 😝

That’s pretty much how it works. I was hoping that there may have been a London Sunday option added this year which would allow a few more spaces.

My DD ! I wonder how many people are on the waiting list. I just can't see how anyone would withdraw!!!!

Right?!  Well there’s at least 3 on the wait list from this forum alone and I think there might have been at least one other from an earlier audition date for a London y5 that was also SWL’d.
