  1. Please Can anybody recommend a contemporary teacher that does freelance work. Looking for someone to help choreograph a contemporary solo. Preferably in based in Yorkshire / Lancashire area

  2. Just trying to plan the next 12 months of year 11.   The schools have not released audition dates yet for post 16 but I wonder if anyone that travelled a similar journey last year knows the audition dates for last year as I am assuming most schools will be similar every year.  Thinking Tring, Elmhurst, central, RCS etc

  3. Wow! This summer school is always a winner. Yet again my children had a fabulous week that consisted of professional, high quality tuition and plenty of opportunities to have their moment on stage. At twice the cost this would be a cracking intensive but this is actually a very reasonably priced week that measures up against some of the more well known summer schools.   This is a real gem and the show at the end of the week is a staggering showcase of all the work they pack into 6 days. I’m sure we will be there again next year!

  4. This is an outstanding summer school and without doubt the one to attend if you are looking for smaller classes and a more tailored level of training. The teachers are excellent and passionate about their art.  It’s a warm and friendly atmosphere and goodness knows how they manage to pull off such a fabulous show in just one week but they ALWAYS do.   Compared to other intensives this is very reasonably priced and the students get good long days of dancing. Can’t recommend highly enough. I’m a parent of a teenage daughter who wants to make a career out of ballet and another daughter who dances as a hobby - it’s a perfect week for both of them !

  5. My daughters have both attended this summer school for several years ( excluding the pandemic) . One is now at vocational school and the other enjoys dance as a hobby. They both get a lot out of the week. In fact one of my daughters said she would rather stay at home and go to the summer school this year even if she would miss out on going on holiday!!!

The class sizes are small and the quality of teaching is excellent with a mixture of professional dancers and expert teachers.  There is a nice mix of other genres but the focus is on ballet. Every year the audience is staggered by the quality of the performance that has been put together over a week.  Just proof ( along with tired children) of the hard work that has gone on.  Having said that, my daughters are buzzing every day when they do the summer school. The little ones are very well looked after in between lessons and do a few games and crafts to give them a little breather.  I cannot recommend this summer school enough. My older daughter has done similar at Elmhurst, YBS and Tring but this one always remains the highlight. It’s so much more personal in every way- even the corrections!!! It is exceptional value too .

    Hi all

We are looking for a summer school for my DD that doesn't require an audition and is open to recreational dancers. She loves ballet, and is currently working at RAD Grade 6 and Intermediate after moving from a previous school which kept her from progressing at all. She doesn't want to be professional, but wants to be the best she dancer she can be. Ideally the location would be Yorkshire or Scotland due to family reasons. Any suggestions?

Check out tutu girl on this forum.  She has a fabulous summer school and has guest teachers including professional ballerinas and teachers from vocational schools.  They take residential pupils too.  No audition .  Based in Yorkshire . If you pm me I can give you contact details

Congratulations to @Pinksocks and @Kitty rose and you DDs! Did you get the MDS straight away or off the reserve list? I understand what you are saying with regards to not knowing the contributions and there still being a chance of MDS being returned. Depending how many MDS we’re given I think my son is pretty near the top of the reserve list so we still have a little hope....

My daughter got the MDS straight away rather than off the reserve but if your son is very near the top I suspect he has a good chance.  Fingers crossed for you .

  8. Thank you everyone for your replies.  What about capital that doesn’t actually earn interest as such.  Such as value of pension or savings etc .  Do they take this into account or is it purely INCOME ?

August seems very late to be finalising things .  This would mean keeping hold of a state school place until then too !

  9. Even though my daughter has been lucky enough to be offered an MDS for Hammond we have not had confirmation of how much our contribution will be. The offer letter said that we would receive another financial form to complete and we haven’t received it yet .   If other families are in the same situation they may be unable to decide whether or not they wish to accept the place . Therefore it could be a while before MDS ‘s go back on the market !

P.S my daughter would like to know if a little girl  that she met at the final has been offered a place ?
