Not at the 11th hour surely? The Company seems to have been working exceptionally hard of late: that can take its toll.
Perhaps the combined workload has proven too much to juggle and something has had to give. Magri is still listed to dance Swan Lake on Thursday.- 2

The Royal Ballet's much awaited triple bill of Kenneth MacMillan ballets at the Royal Opera House- Danses Concertantes, Different Drummer, and Requiem, opens tomorrow, so am starting this thread for reviews, thoughts, curtain call photos etc.
Please note there are now further cast changes in addition to Francisco Serrano replacing Alexander Campbell (as Drum Major) in Different Drummer following Campbell's departure to take up his new Royal Academy of Dancing post.
Isabella Gasparini replaces Anna Rose O'Sullivan and Mayara Magri in all performances of Danses Concertantes.
Melissa Hamilton replaces Marianela Nunez in the Agnus Dei role in Requiem on 20 March, 4 April and 9 April.
Isabel Lubach replaces Marianela Nunez in the Agnus Dei role in Requiem on 22 March, and replaces Melissa Hamilton in that role on 13 April.
Looking forward to members' reactions, feedback and other contributions!
perhaps these principals have been relieved of the MacMillan in order to focus on the Ashton pieces

the odd worried parent wondering how the babysitter is coping
my friend still has to have her phone turned on 24/7 "in case my daughter needs me".
her daughter is now 35 and has lived independently and now with her partner in another country for the past 10 years!!

She should be recognised in a specialist one-off way IMO
An honorary Dame or knighthood perhaps

How pretentious of the organiser to offer her Awards. Ballet Icons is no more than another commercial venture. A BCF ceremony would have had more meaning!!! 😉Don’t shoot the messenger. I’m just reporting back. I don’t know anything about the organisation or the organisers so have no ‘opinion’ either way.

During the curtain call last night several ‘Ballet Icon’ awards were somewhat haphazardly presented and I’m not certain that the whole auditorium were aware what was happening. These included a special one to Aud Jebsen for ‘services to ballet’. I, for one, am glad to see her recognised and thanked.

Even for a sold out show there will be a number of seats that are empty on the night due to unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances not just because someone has more money than sense. Especially now that one has to buy tickets so far in advance. I almost didn’t make last night’s show as less than two hours prior to leaving home water started dripping into my sitting room from the flat upstairs. Fortunately for me the leak was located and contained so that I was able to get to the Coliseum in the nick of time. A few hours earlier a friend had been immobilised by sciatica and was unsure whether they would attend. It’s not always possible to return or even give away tickets at the last minute even if one thinks to do so. That’s life.
NB the top ticket price for a seat (VIP packages aside) was the same price as a ticket to RB Swan Lake.- 1

A smorgasbord of gems to ponder, to relish and delight the most jaded of palettes even if some dishes weren’t to everyone’s taste.
My highlight of the evening: Caravaggio choreo by Mauro Bigonzetti danced by Melissa Hamilton and Roberto Bolle literally took my breath away. That was worth the cost of the ticket without anything else.

Sorry Geoff, but you'll have to explain what "non-idiomatic emotionalism" is.
I’m not a scholar of Petipa or anyone else but after a bit of googlewebbing I get the sense that non-idiomatic emotionalism equates to “wearing your heart on your sleeve” or “what you see is what you get”.

. It also is quite sobering to read on Fumi's account her saying how quickly this performance had been put together (after Lauren was unable to dance).
They did dance this together in the last run so it’s not completely from scratch.

Could anyone identify the Von Rothbart double last night? My best guess was Dubreuil but I'm far from sure.
Yes Téo Dubreuil

This is definitely not up to date. It is just the original potential cast from several months ago.
When I messaged the organisers via IG two days ago they directed me to the Coliseum website which didn’t have any dancer information on it.
Seems like the social media chimps don’t have a clue.In conversation with another human last night I learned that casting had yet to be finalised along with the running order.

@PeterS that would be a surprise.
I think his insta story about that ballet is related to Angel Corella, not himself. (Angel’s company Philadelphia Ballet is performing it).
Perhaps Sangeun Lee and Gareth Haw will perform that pdd … as they did at Ballet Nights.
I may have gotten confused as Gareth & Sangeun are scheduled to dance too.
