She was absolutely terrified of all the super-flexible stretching going on in the waiting room! BUT, she came out of the audition saying it was brilliant!

Its her her first experience of an audition and I think she’s hooked!

That’s great! I hope everything goes well for her!

You have the right attitude to succeed Balletbear...your time will come! 🤞🏻

I was in that class too! Thank you and you are definitely right so for the time being I will just enjoy the ride!

    DD got recall 🙂

Congratulations to your dd! What group was she in? Sorry I keep asking but I would like to see which girls or boys got a recall from my group so I can strive to be as good as them (if that makes sense!?)

  4. I’m not sure how far away RAD HQ is from you but it appears that they offer non-syllabus classes from Grade 3 onwards, which depending on the grade of your dd could be something to think about for the future. However, I’m not sure how good they are because I have no personal experience. Good luck to your dd! 😊

  5. You’re welcome! Yes I think that will make it easier and I can work on some things I struggled on. That’s a shame, I’m sure she was great! What group was she in (if you don’t mind me asking)? They do say third time lucky! Yes, there definitely is. Thank you very much and good luck to your dd in the future!

  6. Hi! I just wanted to say that I didn’t get a place in the final audition but I’m so happy for a friend that has! She didn’t get through the preliminary last year so it just shows that you should always try again (which what I will do next year)! The audition standard was very high and I think that there were some gorgeous dancers that very much deserved a place so I’m glad some of them will have received that happy email today😊. Thank you for all your help, it definitely made my audition experience a lot smoother and I really appreciate it! I hope some of your DCs received good news today.

Glad it was helpful! Folded forms fine but try to keep your photos flat!

Fingers crossed for happy outcome from this & NYB audition!

Yes, I’ve got the photos flat. Thank you so much, whatever the outcome I’m just grateful for the opportunities I’m given.

Post it in a POst Office or (PO section within a shop) & ask for a proof of posting.... they’ll print off a slip so you will have that reassurance that you can prove it was posted in good time (& well in advance of the early bird rate 😉)

First Class Royal Mail  should get there the next day if posted before last collection....ever the optimist me!! Do make sure you check size & weight to get correct postage as from what I remember from posting in previous years it’s a largish set of docs which possibly weigh more than the standard large letter stamp rate so do go into a PO to buy correct first class postage rate & not get caught out!

DD did Junior SS twice (or 3 times??? Lose track...) & enjoyed it.

    Goid luck to your DC!

Not ever applied for Senior course as timings not good for family but be interested to hear of people’s expetience...

Just an aside....do wish the prestigious schools that hold older age SS chose by holding auditions or asked for videos to apply for places as I think photo & form only applications are less than ideal for all concerned....

Thank you so much! I’ll go in on Monday and do what you said. My mum has bought a hard-backed envelope (I think that’s what it is?!) to keep the photos straight so they can weigh that.  Is it ok if I’ve folded the forms in half? I’ve also done an NYB audition but I’m not expecting anything so I may do OPES again. I’m glad your DD had fun!

    Thanks again xxx

  9. Hi, I am just double checking something before I send the application off.

I’m applying for the Elmhurst Senior Summer School but I can’t see anything about an application fee so I’m assuming there isn’t one. Is that correct?

Also, I will only have chance to post it on Monday, the 4th, (I live about 2-3 hours from Birmingham), if I post it 1st Class they should receive it by Friday the 8th shouldn’t they?

Thank you for any help 😊

    Hello

Does anyone know when applications will open for this year's auditions? Can anyone remember roughly when it was last year?

    Thank you :)

I think they have opened as the website page now has information on it.

Does anybody know how they would like the position of your arms to be? First and second position to match your feet?

    Thank you xxx

  11. Yes I did thank you! I was in Group 3. Some of the steps I hadn’t really learnt but I gave them my best shot, however while overall I wasn’t worried about my technique that much, I did have a bit of trouble remembering the exercises. I’m really not expecting anything but I loved the Ballet Mistress and I was able to see a friend I met at OPES so I’m just happy for an extra class! Hopefully your dd will make it to finals! It would be amazing if I did. I saw on Instagram that it would be the 5th of March, which feels like ages!

  12. Thank you so much for your help! I’m thinking that I will bring them with me and see how big the studio is/how many people are in my group, as at least I will have them as a reassurance. Do you know if I were to bring them into the class, if  they were not needed, I could put them by my water and pointe shoes? I did watch some of the ‘lives’ on their Instagram from London so I may watch over them again. Sorry to be asking so many questions, but do you know what standard the 14 (15 in June) year olds class will be at? Only because I think I’m a bit behind for my age (RAD Intermediate) so i would like to know before I go in and panic! Thank you so much once again, I really appreciate it!

PS. Good luck to your dd!

  13. Hi!

I am auditioning for NYB in Birmingham on Sunday. I was just wondering if you could answer a few queries I had?

    1. I wear glasses but never for normal class (I manage fine most of the time). I have tried getting contact lenses but as I live in quite a rural area there are no appointments for a long time. Has anyone or their children got in to NYB (or made it to the final) wearing glasses? Or should I just not wear them like normal and squint a bit?

    2. Following on from that point, would I be at a disadvantage if I asked the teacher to repeat a step/sequence/exercise?

    3. Finally, do you know if the preliminary auditions include pointe work?

Thank you for any help you can give me, I really appreciate it. 😊
