  1. Thinking of all the dance school owners and teachers. It must be a very worrying time for you all.

While I am able, I'll continue to pay for DD classes, we can sort out extra classes etc when all this passes.

Its such a shame that this interrupts so many plans. We have a musical in May, scheduled to dance at Disneyland Paris in August, ballet exams mid year, annual showcase in November. Its all an unknown now. Even the later events need class time to choreograph and practice.

    Stay safe everyone xx

Oh I’m sorry to hear that ☹️

Thanks. She's OK but I assume it'll also be a no for the spring pop up too (although she is at the younger end of the age for that anyway)

Just wish there was feedback rather than a straight no. I have a feeling its as much to do with her confidence than anything else as she is quite shy and possibly doesn't perform to her full potential in auditions, maybe looks nervous.

Good experience/practice if nothing else though.

  3. Just wanted to update this thread and thankyou all for the information on welcome performances.

I haven't had any notification about the welcome scheme but checked on the off chance as Swan Lake welcome performance is 28th March and I've booked 2 tickets on the front row of the ampitheatre for £17 (including ice cream!). I am over the moon and can't wait to visit with my daughter, train tickets are booked for a quick day trip down to London.

So huge thanks to the knowledgeable members of this forum xx

Attended Manchester auditions earlier today, I’m sure the group after were auditioning for SA, just wondering if the earliest group were mixed for year 7,8,9 or just year 9?

My DD attends tomorrow and it states year 7 girls on the paperwork if thats any help.

My DD auditioned last year. The preliminary audition was just like a class, she came out saying it was really good fun. She got through to finals where they went in as one group of 50 I think. They did a warm up then split into groups and some did flexibility stuff whilst the others danced then they swapped. I can’t remember much more than that . DD said it was still good fun but finals felt more serious and more tricky. She got a no but loved it so is keen to try again this year!

Thanks, sounds like they do take quite a few forward, wonder how many audition in the first round. Just need to take somemore photos now for the application.

Creakingstool - It was a ballet class like RBS, yes, but the group seemed quite a bit bigger than RBS audition. Its all blurred a bit in my head now but i think it was about an hour. there was some just looking at them physically, but less so than with the RBS audition. there was preliminaries and then finals, with about a 3 week wait for the results of that if I remember rightly.

Thanks for this, I will let her know :)

From Instagram it looks as though there are going to be some very delicious cupcakes available!

The cupcake went down very well!! A really good morning visit, I found it really informative and everyone seemed very friendly and helpful.

I'm taking youngest DD tomorrow. She gets to watch her big sister's associates class which is a bonus! I think it'll be a fun morning.

We really enjoyed the day, we were first session I think and saw warm up and conditioning. The class looked very good and were very professional, must have been strange all those people watching :)

  9. Well we had a pretty nasty journey over the M62 this morning in the snow and rain plus the tyre pressure warning light coming on in the car so had to pull off and check it!! We managed to park easily on Quarry Hill carpark once we got to it around the building site.

Everyone checking us in seems lovely and friendly and DD happily went in with some tinsel tied around her waist!! I'm sure she'll have a great time 😁😁

Parking is a nightmare at the moment. It's much easier to park in Leeds NCP Market car park!!!!

Thanks. Says £18.50 for 5 hours which seems a lot. Will look at other options though incase I cant get on the Quarry Hill carpark.

If you are coming from Manchester - is getting the train an option?  There are direct trains from Manchester to Leeds, and Leeds station is about 15mins walk from Yorkshire Dance (or a short taxi ride).

I did think about train but it starts at 9.30 so its just too early really, still have to get to the station this end. Car is better option this time although I do like train vs driving most of the time!

Yorkshire Dance is just down the road from Northern Ballet ( about 100m! ) opposite BBC!

Parking is at Quarry Hill, like it would be for Northern Ballet, but at the moment about half the carpark is blocked off due to building works of some kind! Nightmare!

I don't know where else to suggest parking but the Leeds markets and Victoria ( John Lewis ) car parks are not too far away. I don't know how much they cost. Quarry Hill is £7.50 if you are there for up to 5 hours ( £4 for 2hrs )

Enjoy. DD loves dancing in the Yorkshire Dance studios... says they are wonderful.

Thanks @Pixiewoo  thats really helpful. Travelling over from Manchester so want to be prepared. I'll check them out. DD is very excited :)

My DD (12) did the YBSS Easter pop up this year. It was lots of fun and she was totally inspired by learning the Bluebird dance from Sleeping Beauty. I'm not sure how 'nuturing' it was - it was quite a big group. I think there was little individual feedback. She went with a friend and I don't think she would have gone on her own. Can you interest a friend in going with your DD?

Just realised I didn't acknowledge this, thanks for your feedback. It sounds really positive :)

My DD done their pop up workshop at the end of the summer in Leeds, she too is only just 10 and can be a little shy. She LOVED the workshop, said it was the best workshop she’d done. She said there was nothing too hard but was very interesting, the teachers were lovely and it had a lovely atmosphere.

We’ve booked again for the nutcracker one in Leeds.

Oh thankyou for this :) I have booked DD on the Leeds nutcracker workshop too. The Birmingham one sold out before I made a decision!! Really glad to hear that your DD enjoyed the summer one.
