Some have been offered both RPC and intensive and so there will be movement in the waiting list depending on how they choose. Will know by 14.5

i cannot imagine everyone has been waitlisted and there surely will be movement after the deadline for the first instalment. -

I think this might be due to that this is now 2 years programme - last year was residential (choreography was tested and learnt) and this year is the performance year, so I do suspect that dancers who did last year might more likely be offered a place.
Not true. Many who did last year hasn't been offered this year

Nothing from Central again this term but will be something next year

Sorry missed your message as busy at work

You'll need to scroll down. 2.6.24. They have said 7yo welcome xx

Usually if there is movement it's quite last minute as there are international students who can't get visas etc. I seem to remember them.saying there's a cut off point, i.e. if you don't hear from us by x, assume you've not been offered anything. Good luck.

Just to let you know, the Rad are running a boys one day intensive on 2.6.24 from 10am to 3pm. Although it's for boys 8-11, they are relaxed about 7yo applying. Ballet rep and creative dance with male faculty. Check out their website.
My 7yo did the project b workshops with them and absolutely loved it.

Group dances take a different sort of commitment and would involve a lot of different challenge for your dance teacher. Solos might be best to be begin with and test the water

Agree with all the points above. Festivals can be lovely for children to gain stage and performance experience with feedback from adjudicators but it is a test of how they can perform, remembering the dance and who they're against. Ultimately, if you don't take it to seriously and let the child enjoy themselves, they gain more from it. I've seen kids that have a million solos and spend most of the time being coaxed to get on stage or in tears because they can't remember the dance or didn't get a medal. You can always seem to tell apart the ones who genuinely love it and those who are pushed into it.
If you want to try doing a festival, best to talk to dance teacher honestly about it. They may be able to choreo a solo or two in a few private lessons and allow you to enter her privately into comps. Good luck!

Is the mat still available please? Also what's the general location for pick up please?

My DD did an intensive IF course before her exam at the rad HQ, five Sundays in a row. Quite a few adults on the course. Next intensive is over the summer. Good luck all, it's wonderful that you're all dancing. I've got two left feet and can only manage a plié

I have a 7 year-old (Year 2) pupil who is very keen and shows potential. He would like to take part in some workshops/ one-off classes over the summer in London or the South, ideally specifically for boys or where he won’t be the only boy (as is the situation in his current class). I know Central has run boys’ ballet days in the past but I can’t currently see any advertised. Does London Boys’ Ballet School still exist? The website seems defunct. London Junior Ballet is running a boys’ Summer School but it’s for age 9+… Does anyone have any other suggestions? Thank you!
The rad project B one is relaxed re. 7yo doing the workshops but won't be able to do the comp.
Cecchetti associates run a young associate programme for 7yos. Check out their website.
Central do do boys move day- their last one was beg of Feb unfortunately. For workshops coming up, if you think they have the ability, drop jo Hurst an email. They're always very accommodating
Hope this helps

Do you still need shoes?

Is this still available? If so, how much please?

It depends. If you're up for a challenge and doing well with your solos, why not speak to your parents and teacher and see what they think. Without being rude, I think it's much better to excel at fewer dances than to be mediocre at more. If you are doing All England and qualifying all, why not try another style? The thing I would say, is that the more dances require more commitment, time, costumes, money and not always on the same day so you may find yourself going to a festival for four separate days.
If you excel at ballet, contemp and neo classical are obvious choices. If tap and song and dance is more your bag, jazz might be a nice one to go for. Good luck

I'd give the audience a break - the make-up of it probably had a large number of non-regular theatre/ballet goers for whom it would have been a marvelous novelty (first time attendance?), so can hardly blame them for being excitable
Exactly this

I loved it. I loved the way the ROH was made more accessible. I don't like the snobbery about the etiquette. Ballet should be accessible to all. I had a great time. The dancing was fabulous and the ballet a master class in mime. Only gripe was that I wish Joe Sissens had a bigger role last night. Well done ROH and Royal Ballet.

Sorry for delay. Half term.
Malvern came out on top!

My dd has pretty much done most of the intensives out there (incl rbs x2) and rbs doesn't rank as her favourite

Welcome. This is a really friendly and safe space to get advice and share information. Wishing you well on your ballet journey. Such a wonderful thing to take up, no matter what age you are

There are a lot of lawyers who used to dance. You can always tell who they are because they manage to swan around and move like gazelles

If perf opp is sought, don't forget the English youth ballet. They are a cracking experience for stage and the kids have a wonderful time
