My DD did an intensive IF course before her exam at the rad HQ, five Sundays in a row. Quite a few adults on the course. Next intensive is over the summer. Good luck all, it's wonderful that you're all dancing. I've got two left feet and can only manage a plié

Dance Floor for sale in original storage roll
HopelessMummy replied to FlexyNexy's topic in For Sale / Wanted
Is this still available? If so, how much please? -
It depends. If you're up for a challenge and doing well with your solos, why not speak to your parents and teacher and see what they think. Without being rude, I think it's much better to excel at fewer dances than to be mediocre at more. If you are doing All England and qualifying all, why not try another style? The thing I would say, is that the more dances require more commitment, time, costumes, money and not always on the same day so you may find yourself going to a festival for four separate days. If you excel at ballet, contemp and neo classical are obvious choices. If tap and song and dance is more your bag, jazz might be a nice one to go for. Good luck

DON QUIXOTE - ROYAL BALLET AUTUMN 2023

I loved it. I loved the way the ROH was made more accessible. I don't like the snobbery about the etiquette. Ballet should be accessible to all. I had a great time. The dancing was fabulous and the ballet a master class in mime. Only gripe was that I wish Joe Sissens had a bigger role last night. Well done ROH and Royal Ballet. -

There are a lot of lawyers who used to dance. You can always tell who they are because they manage to swan around and move like gazelles

Sizing question about Bloch and 1st Position ballet flats
HopelessMummy replied to invisiblecircus's topic in Doing Dance
First position tends to be true to size but worth getting one size up. They defo shrink in the wash! -

Try physiome in London. 07903 262392. You can Google them. She used to be at the rbs before injury and now is a dance physio specialist. www.physiomelondon.co.uk

Best of luck. It's a massive achievement to even get this far. What an experience. If you haven't sorted out accommodation, I echo re. Travelodge which is opposite the rad. They're long days and being able to cross the road and crash into bed is quite a treat. Also, there are lots of places to eat nearby so you won't starve. There's some parking at the Travelodge so that might help. Again, all the best. We'll be watching and giving you an extra cheer!

Does anyone know where I can recycle pointe and soft ballet shoes please? The amount of resources used... There must be a demand for these to be recycled somewhere?

Questions regarding dancing timetable for a 9 year-old!
HopelessMummy replied to Garnier's topic in Doing Dance
Does it not depend on the length of the class? I should imagine 4hrs for a 9yo twice a week would be more full on than 2hrs four times a week. I'm no expert and defer to others with more experience but I don't think age is a good indicator of level. Personally, I'd leave the optional contemporary class. First it sounds like she will be doing quite a bit. Second, contemporary she can always pick up later. Aged 8/9 seems to be quite young from comments I've heard from all England judges... But that's just me. All the best, she sounds like a delight! -
Good luck. Go with your gut. I moved my child and really pleased I did. Wish I did it earlier tbh..hope it all goes well whatever you decide

What is a 'typical' result for RAD Inter Foundation?
HopelessMummy replied to mumofdd's topic in Doing Dance
First, congrats to your daughter. To complete IF after only doing Grade 3 in April is an incredible achievement. It's also a very massive jump. 58 is a very credible score but I wonder if your DD had more time, she might have done better. I sometimes wonder about dance schools' anxieties to put children in for grades before they are fully secure. This isn't meant to be negative- just a thought. Well done again. She now has UCAS points too if she wants to go down the route of applying for higher education! -
Anyone any ideas how to stop new pointe shoes from squeaking? They've been mostly broken in but keeps squeaking on one side. Any tips gratefully received thanks

Sorry, some more detail. 1. No. Even if you get finals, you can still get a no. I.e. being in the finals do not guarantee you a place in either tour or main company 2. Absolutely. They make this clear from the outset and you can only miss if auditioning for vocational (off the top of head). Even for exams, they say you should discuss with your teachers as it's not a good enough reason to miss. When you sign up for audition, it says you are confirming that you understand the expectations etc... Wishing all the best of luck.
