You could change to train from Richmond to St Margerets on SouthWest Train platform 1 (takes 3 min plus 10 min walk) or take H37 direction Hounslow (stop just outside of station) for about 20 min bus ride and 5 min walk

That’s what was suggested (the bus) but then I was a little concerned when a TfL worker said the bus doesn’t run at the weekends!!

  2. A collection of inspiring interviews and striking photography from prominent brown ballerinas.

The Ballerina's Little Black Book compiles a wealth of stories, advice and training information directly from the women who are breaking down barriers.

Aspiring ballerinas can read messages from famed dancers like Aesha Ash, Alicia Graf Mack and even a personal message from none other than Misty Copeland.
Filled with wisdom, solutions, and powerful visuals, The Ballerina's Little Black Book is the ultimate handbook

Brought for my daughter who wants to pass on now

Paid over £30 for this to get to us as I Couldn’t find anything like it at the time in the Uk😳😳

    Selling for £15

happy to send a pic of the book-tried to upload but file too big!

DC attended their two week summer school and loved the training despite not being a fan of Russian technique.  It is usually at Sadler's Wells but a modified version took place in their home premises.  We booked it as it was one of the few that was in the studio.  Most who attended were their own pupils and were of a high standard.  Others who attended were from vocational schools such as Tring and a girl who is going into Elmhurst 6th Form.  They have a boy heading off to Vaganova in a few weeks, have pupils place in international competitions and gain places at top upper schools such as RBS and ENB.  Definitely worth speaking to them about what they can offer.  If we had known about them before we would have looked at them while considering vocational school.  The timing of their classes does appear to fit with academic schooling better than some other options we had been considering.  We definitely plan to look at going back next summer if it works out.

    Thanks so much

we sadly had to cancel the summer school as other issues came up

glad it was a positive experience for you

Just for exams and auditions is definitely less of a problem. DD is at vocational school, so has a bun pretty much all day every day (although the school encourages the girls to take their bun out for academic lessons to rest their hair).

It’s funny but I’ve noticed some schools are far more strict than others when it comes to standard of bun!!

my dd always has a bun in for training, but some places expect it to be slick-not a hair outta of place...others are happy for you to just have it in a bun with net or whatever!
Constant bun wearing can play havoc with the delicate baby hairs at the temple!

Gorilla Snot has a bit of a reputation for damaging hair, according to my Mauritian students, as it contains a lot of chemicals... mind you, a similar gel is Eco Style, and that contains a well-known carcinogen. It seems that the more I look into it, the less I know what DD should put on her hair!

this is an interesting article about the snot gel (sorry I had to say that!)

it’s not a natural product, but then we only need it for exams and auditions

Worth buying for name alone!! Is this stocked in usual type of stores please?

It’s in Afro shops -my daughter has very curly hair, so she uses this to keep her bun slick

they do different strengths -for European hair I wouldn’t recommend the strongest!
    can get on amazon

Did your DS do any years of Ballet Boost? My gut instinct is to pursue Ballet Boost and not participate in the Tring audition. I think it would be unfair and probably disrespectful to BBA to decline the space so close to when it starts. And if my son was successful at Tring, it would raise his hopes to want to do a programme we couldn’t do. In these difficult economic times, we would have to spend nearly £400 on uniform and fees for BBA that we would waste. If we pursue BBA, my so will be doing Elmhurst Young Dancers and Ballet Boost which I’m hoping is a lovely combination anyway.

We will most likely stay with bb. I agree with you in regards to their professional attitude and organisation around restarting classes

my dd really wants to attend the Tring audition as she found the experience last year, a positive one!

I wonder how long it takes to receive the results of the Tring audition.  My son really wants to do the audition, as its only 'live audition' actually in the studio.  But he was accepted for Ballet Boost in London which, now seeing their dates, run on EXACTLY the same Sundays.  I really don't know what to do, because the first Ballet Boost class is the day after Tring audition.  That means paying £400 on fees and uniform.  Its such a lot of money. And I know that by going to a live audition, he'd really want the place, if he was successful.  But equally, Ballet Boost have been so kind in their organisation and planning and I would hate to let them down so late in the day.

Any thoughts on how other people might navigate this headache would be appreciated. We could politely withdraw from Ballet Boost, but also risk not being successful at Tring and then have no associate scheme on a Sunday.

You and I have the same predicament although my dd is a little older

added complication is that her bb classes are in the afternoon for this coming term rather than most of Sunday

lord knows what we will do if she get offered a place in Tring

we just wanted to do the audition! Last year was a no, but it was one she wanted to return to

what with Tring opting for live auditions in a few weeks, everything has gotten somewhat more complex !!

    That's crackers.

Why on earth would a school insist on only one brand of shoe to be worn???
the mind boggles at the costs involved with having to replace dead pointes each lesson!

Just wondering if anyone has experience or feedback of The London Ballet Company Associates Programme?

    Any information appreciated.

We were there for a year

it was ok, but I think since last year, class size increased and teaching time decreased

it used to be the majority of the Sunday rather than a few hours
I think it’s a good starter associates course

the Easter week training and subsequent show was good value for money

    staff are friendly enough
