Has anyone had a child who has auditioned / been accepted for Ballet Cymru Associates? Thanks x

RAD had places on a residential in Devon- Dartington Hall. Gorgeous surroundings and might still be taking applications. Good luck

I'm after a copy of the latest ISTD Dance Magazine. I ordered one from them but it's sold out 😥 Teacher's copy has not arrived yet either.
My daughter should be featured in it so I'm really keen to see it- even if it's just a photo of the relevant pages that you could send.
Fingers crossed one of you can help!
Thanks for reading x

Ha ha, balletbean. I expect mine will be tired too but they finish at 4 pm so I'm hoping she'll have a few hours left in her!

Larger % of international pupils.
Different ambience as it is a non residential SS. As you can probably appreciate, with other SS you wave bye bye on the Sunday and your DC is gone for the week. They are on like an extended sleepover with all the associated fun that brings outside the studio as well as the expected tuition
ENBS just can’t offer the same as every evening the pupils disappear to their own accommodation. My DD enjoyed ENBS but it was mentally quite intense. Not a bad thing. Just different. The end of week review was on a whole different level. Certainly pushed all the pupils outside their usual comfort zone. Amazing experience and a great prequel to Vocational Schools.
Ps. Just be prepared with the packing. DD went through 2x Pointe shoes and 2x soft shoes in the two weeks 🙆♀️
Thank you. Yes, she enjoyed the evenings and boarding at Elmhurst, and this year she is looking forward to being with me in the evenings and sightseeing around London as we are staying in a b and b fir the week without hubby and son. Thanks for the warning about the shoes- we'll be prepared (or else suffer an expensive trip to Covent Gdn dance shops!). She's excited to do this one- she's currently in year 8 at school so another couple of years before vocational school. X

Hi. My DD attended Elmhurst and ENBS last summer and BW the previous year. The same faces kept reappearing. So if your DD thinks she won’t know anyone she may well be surprised.
Then my DD auditioned for Vocational School last Autumn and sure enough a couple of girls appeared again.
Certainly breaks the ice in the first day or so. 😉
Good luck for the SS. ENBS is completely different to Elmhurst.
Thanks, Balletbean. In what way was ENB different?

There is a Ballet Boost Associates audition near us this month. What are people's opinions and experience of them? Is it a relatively new enterprise? are the standards high? DD wants to apply and she has a couple of classmates who have been doing it this year

No for my DD which is a blessed relief as I didn't really fancy the 6 hour round trip each week!😂 She's ok about it too and has her ENB summer school to look forward to (phew!)

Hi my daughter has an audition for extended young Dancers year 7 tomorrow at Elmhurst, anybody advise if similar audition process to royal ballet mids.
Also she has a place at Elmhurst Summer school, very excited. Anybody else have a place , she doesn’t know anyone else going . Thank you
Good luck to DD tomorrow. My daughter is going to English National Ballet summer school this year but she did Elmhurst last year. She didn't know anyone but made lots of friends who she's still in touch with. It was a really friendly summer school which she loved. Teacher was adamant that she should get experience of other schools this year hence why we applied for ENB. Sure your DD will have a great time.

Gosh, so have some been assessed out already? It's so harsh . Although more spaces would be great.

ImgyA the current year 8s have started receiving their assessment results and I’m sure there are more auditions this weekend which is possibly what the delay is.
Oh, we had an email saying they were waiting for the audition this weekend before sending results all together next week. This doesn't sound promising for DD. It was her first Elmhurst audition as she's not an associate at the moment.

We’ve heard!
Sounds like it was good news, Bluebird22! What year are your students? We've just had an email saying that the results won't be our until next week (for y9 entry in September)

absolutely no reason why not , depends on the glandular fortitude of the school's SLT/SMT in doing so
Yes, our secondary school (Devon) would authorise as educated off site.

I'm resurrecting this post as DD has just had her audition time through for Extended YD. Does anyone have any tips or anecdotes from the audition? It's 1hr 15 mins long. She's done a RBS mid assoc audition this year- will it he similar? Thanks in advance.

...... It was a no the lady on the phone said "well, if it makes you feel better we'll put her on the waiting list but don't hold out much hope."
I don't expect to get in but ballet really is cruel sometimes. I've had 4 Nos and no Yeses yet this year 😓 Beginning to think that however hard I work and how much I love it I will never be successful. But at least I have Associates and my EYB audition this weekend . Thanks everyone. I am going to book a week at OPES and try to find another nice and small but good quality SS.
You have associates so that's great! Well done on that. 😊 RAD have just announced a 3 day SS in Devon if that's any good. Looks like they've got some great teachers booked and it is residential in a lovely setting x

I have one dd that has been accepted and another on the waiting list (for the junior summer school) so they don't accept every applicant immediately.
Thanks MAK. She was not selected for RBS summer or mid assoc so it's a boost for her to be offered a place. Hope your daughter gets a place from waiting list.

Hi, I'm new here. My DD did Elmhurst SS last year (loved it, but teacher made sure we applied to different places this year to get experience of other schools) and has got a place on the ENB SS week B this year. Just wondering, because I can't work it out from the contradictory wording on their website and offer letter, do all applicants for ENB get offered a place or is this actually a big deal to be offered? Thanks in advance x

Hi Mummy Twinkle Toes,
No, DD has an audition on Sunday 22nd July. Just wanted a bit of a heads up as to what the audition process is like xx
