We have heard about associates and bursary for full time y7 today. Good news here. Hope everyone hears soon 🤞🤞🤞

My DDs year group has more northerners than southerners. They all think she talks posh (which is hilarious as our regional accent is of the farmer variety 🤣)

I think its more of a mix than it looks from social media. My daughter is y9 at one of the big schools and her year group was a total mix from kids who did 2 hours a week at a local dance school and had never done a festival or associates, to some who were seasoned professionals doing multiple associate schemes, private lessons, comps and photo shoots, and lots somewhere in between.Â
Â
I would say a good associate scheme can be a plus on a personal level, just because it puts them in a class with like minded peers, but isn't essential if it doesn't work with your circumstances. Private lessons with a trusted teacher can also be a help to focus on individual things, but again, it isn't the be all and end all.Â
Â
Ultimately, if its their dream, why not give it a shot. Go in with realistic hopes, remember that it isn't the end of the world (or the career) if they don't do Vocational at 11, and enjoy the experience!Â

My dd was a JA for 3 years....got to finals.....got a.no....only wait list for mids.Â
Â
But got a straight yes for Elmhurst 🤔
Â
So who knows!!!
Almost the same here. My DD was a JA years 5 and 6. Didn't even make royal finals, waitlist for MAs but got a place at Elmhurst. Its all so random 🤣

Have sent you a message, but I would say from your post, you know what to do. No point in doing it if it isn't helping her and confidence and happiness is as important as technique. I would make the move, I think she will get far more put of dancing somewhere she loves.

Yep Elmhurst numbers are anyone's guess. My daughter is in y9 and they've had anything between 17Â and 21 girls in her year since they started (been a fair few comings and goings) But only 7 or 8 boys. They are going to work hard when pas de deux lessons start!!!

Also got a reply today 😊 seems my previous emails had disappeared into the Internet and only appeared when I sent another one.Â

I'm despairing at the mo. I messaged them on Facebook after no reply to 2 emails to ballet teacher and 1 to admissions. Facebook replied quickly saying they would pass my message directly to admissions. Still not heard back from them!Â

A no for my DD for y7, she isn't bothered though and I'm a bit relieved not to be starting it all again (other DD is there in y9) Good luck to everyone who had a yes!

My DD is at Elmhurst but didn't make finals for WL, or even get MAs (she got waitlist). She often says she is so pleased as it wouldn't have been the right place for her.Â

Has anyone else had problems getting replies from Moorland? My DD was offered a place and I have emailed asking for a phone call to answer some questions. Not had a reply despite chasing it up (over 2 weeks now, 3 since my 1st email). I also tried the admissions person yesterday but not heard from him yet either.Â

Yep each year has a slightly later phone hand in time and bed time. They have phones all day but at the start of y7 they didnt have them all day to allow them time to settle without constantly messaging home. This may have changed.

Does anyone know how many they invite to finals? (I know there isn’t a cap, but generally). Boys and girls is that? ThanksÂ
I think there were about 42 girls at finals for y7 two years ago. X

We had a no saying she is a good standard and they would welcome seeing her again and she should work on xyz. Strange how they send different letters out.
-
A no for us for y5Â Birmingham. She will be sad I think as waitlist last year and felt she was better this time.Â
Â
At least I can stop checking now 🤣
Â
Good luck to those still waiting.

I assumed it was something like this but how would you know which one to put down ! Lol!Â
Whichever you prefer! We went for 24 with my older daughter and this one..cheaper and less travel! Some prefer as many as possible.

Son or Daughter? Daughter
Birthday? March
Year applied for? 5
Auditioned in? BirminghamÂ
For a place in? Birmingham
Applied before? Yes, waitlist last year
Any other centres? Just finishing her first year at Elmhurst.Â
Any other info? Have an older one in y7 at Elmhurst full time. Very stressful for the little one as she is desperate to follow in big sister's footsteps ☹

One class runs 24 weeks and one 32 weeks of the year.

Finger crossed for you. It’s an emotional roller coaster isnt it? My DD is on the reserve list for MDS. Our letter said that MDS places have to be taken up by 8th April. Thinking it is probably unlikely that an MDS place will come up. Very new to all of this though!Â
Last year, mds places were eventually offered to at least 5 on the waiting list, so don't despair!

Good luck to everyone still waiting. Just to throw a spanner in, our Elmhurst letter got lost in the post last year. I phoned them the day after everyone else heard when it still hadn't come and they emailed me the letter!
