I’m going to the opening night at SW. I was really impressed with Yu when I saw her dancing as Cinderella in 2021 so I’m expecting her to be an equally lovely Aurora. I haven’t seen enough of Lachlan so I’m really looking forward to seeing him as the Prince.

After reading Jan’s review and the Guardian review I think I will be booking for Sadlers Wells!

I’ve booked for the first time as a Friend (well, since 1994) - I decided to treat myself and see how it goes. I was all fingers and thumbs (using my phone) and kept changing my mind, but amongst other things I booked for the Sissens/Sasaki Swan Lake, for which I’m very excited. Apart from my lack of dexterity it was pretty straightforward.

I’m a bit disappointed that none of the venues/dates work for me. I saw it in Salford in 2021, a very special evening.

I’ve only just heard about this. I think it sounds intriguing! I like Acosta Danza and I’d definitely like to see this production.

Dawnstar’s flowers and the picture of Dame Antoinette have made me feel a bit weepy! Thanks Dawnstar for your wonderful review. How I wish I could have seen an additional Manon!

I’m late to the discussion - I didn’t expect this news and I’m sorry I won’t be seeing him dance again. His performance as Lescaut two weeks ago was one for the ages. Massive congratulations to him!

. I would be happy for it to be a traditional version with tutus
Yes, me too…although I liked the new setting much more than I expected to! I thought it was really cleverly done.

I really enjoyed Raymonda- just wanted to put that out there!

Matthew Ball and Celine Gittens sounds like a very interesting partnership- would love to see them!

I’m both excited and nervous about a new Nutcracker. I really enjoyed the Skeaping Giselle but I wasn’t desperate for it to be repeated so soon. I will probably still go though. I’m on the fence about a Forsythe triple. I would have loved a Gala but I appreciate that’s a lot on top of a brand new Nut. So overall- mixed feelings.

I thought the opening Prelude unexpectedly ragged
Yes, so did I! Not at all what I was expecting but it fairly quickly got much better

Just to add to my brief post from last night: Osipova blew me away. I expected greatness from her and she definitely didn’t disappoint: she lived and breathed Manon. I felt the tragedy almost as soon as she arrived on stage. Clarke was a wonderful, soulful Des Grieux; honourable and ardent. Their first pas de deux brought me to tears for its beauty and the poignancy of the music. Campbell was an utterly superb Lescaut - just mesmerising in his loathsomeness- I couldn’t look away! The whole cast gave it everything- a really wonderful performance- I went home very happy indeed and feeling very fortunate to have been there.

Just got home from tonight’s performance. I concur with all of the above. I need to go to bed as I have an early start tomorrow but will try to write more in due course.

I’d love to see A Christmas Carol but none of the dates/locations work well for me.

Really pleased to see the enthusiastic comments about Osipova and Clarke…seeing them next Wednesday and full of anticipation!

I have enjoyed this thread so much! Many thanks to Irmgard especially for sharing your knowledge and insights but also to everyone who has contributed their thoughts. I’m so pleased for ENB that Giselle was such a success.

He will be very much missed here - special memories of his Albrecht at Sadlers Wells. Huge congratulations to him!

Absolutely, was thinking of the last run of La Sylphide (which was a long time ago).
I think it was about eight years ago, maybe? IIRC it was post-Nutcracker and in a double bill with Le Jeune Homme et la Mort?

I should have said it's under "Emerging Dancer" - Aitor Arrieta and his partner in the livestreamed performance, Julia Conway, were past winners (from different years). I've posted the YouTube link for the ENB video so that everyone can see it fairly easily. (It was Monday's FB post from ENB.)
Thanks so much Emeralds- I just watched it- wonderful!

PS those of you with tickets tonight (you are very lucky either way!) and those not going, have a look at Aitor's incredible coda in Grand Pas Classique on ENB's social media yesterday. I swear he has wings there
Hello Emeralds, where is this please? I couldn’t find it on FB or IG and would love to see it!

Arrieta has graciously stepped aside to allow Frola to have a second performance, as he had to miss his show last Friday. Khaniukova would have done the same for Oliveira but she is still injured
How lovely!

I was hoping to see Cesar or Tyrone at SW in April- I’m disappointed that neither of them is down to dance. I’ll probably book for the Wednesday evening at SW as there’s still plenty of good seats in the second tier (my preferred seating option).
