  1. Waiting list here too! Im taking it as a no.  Also makes me wonder weather it is worth attending the Mids audition?!

I didn't tell my daughter I was applying for Summer School for her.  I figured that way she wouldn't be disappointed if it was a no.  Glad I didn't now as I won't have to tell her anything and she will carry on with christmas in blissful ignorance!

Well done to those with a yes x

The student completes a written journal alongside their practical teaching can work, the journal covers 6 areas, performance skills, technique, choreography, teaching, physiological and cultural. Although there are no set answers (as it’s the candidates own personal research and opinions) there are guidance questions for each area. The journal itself is not marked but their is a brief interview on the work presented at the end of the exam which is awarded marks

Thank you - how long is the course work? Ie is it a huge undertaking? Do you know how much of the course work/ interview counts? Sorry for all the questions , just trying to work out if my dd should do it and I can’t find any info online and not many schools do BTDA. Any info would be hugely appreciated!

  3. Thank you so much. My daughters teacher has never taught it before and is worried it will be too hard! I personally think having not taught it before she is over thinking it and my DD will be fine! I just couldn’t find any information on it.

    Thank you again.

  4. Hi I was wondering if any of your DC had taken the intermediate exam with BTDA. I understand it involves doing some coursework and an interview. Could anyone enlighten me as to what this entails? Thank you x

My daughter is currently at ENBss week 4- finishing tomorrow. We found a beautiful b and b a 3 minute walk away from the school. It's cost £250 for 4 nights for 2 of us which I thought was very reasonable for Chelsea. It's actually worked out the same price as a week's residential at RBS would have been. I'm watching the classes tomorrow.

Would you mind messaging me the details as I am looking for somewhere to stay and that sounds perfect?!  Thank you

Hi yes my DD, went at easter and absolutely loved it . She will be returning for the three day course this summer. She is 13.

Thank you - just looking at booking accommodation now!

    She is very excited.

  7. Hi, I was just wondering if anyone was going to dance forward this summer. My DD is and I wondered if anyone is going or has been. I haven’t really heard much about it and am thinking I maybe should have picked a different one for her??

I've searched the forum because I saw someone commenting they had managed special permission from school to have a class during school session, but now I can't find it anywhere. Anybody has experience of having to take their children to ballet class during term time on a regular basis? Is it even possible? Thanks!

Hi, yes I have recently spoken to my DD school and they have given her permission to have one pm a week off school for lessons.

  9. Hi, my daughter is in exactly the same position as yours.  She just didn’t want to leave home at 11. She has friends that are at Elmhurst and RBS but her heart wasn’t in it. We are doing the training we can locally and will reassess later. Her school have authorised her to have one afternoon off a week in order for us to travel to have a private lesson with a fabulous teacher. They have been very supportive as we live quite remotely and to get quality teaching I have to travel. But meanwhile she is getting a broad education and time at home which was right for her at the moment. Although as with most nearly teens what she wants changes on a daily basis!!

  10. I have just looked at the Elmhurst website and the audition dates and forms are up!! BUT it looks like this year they are not inviting everyone to preliminary. It says not to send audition fee as the director will choose from photos and only those invited will be seen and therefore pay. Bit worrying as I am awful at taking photos!!
