I bet loads of people are now saying "yay! I hear it too and it's horrid"
It *is* horrid, now I've noticed it! However, could it just be fluid in the ears that's cracking/popping ...? Perhaps if it's something less sinister than bones grinding, you might not mind it so much ...?

EmilyR - at time of writing, your post has apparently had 247 views .... I'm guessing that means that 247 people have been sitting there turning their head from side to side to see if they can hear a creaking sound!! (Or perhaps I'm the only one 🙄).
Sorry - I have nothing helpful to add - the mental image of so many people across the UK turning their heads at the same time was just amusing!

Is the AD a member of this forum? Perhaps the Forum rules should be "No member should give details of *any* child ...." - just to make it clear?

I think it's important for children to know the statistics when they go for WL/Elmhurst etc auditions. It really helps if they understand the bigger picture. A 'no' doesn't mean "you're rubbish." It means nothing more than "we saw hundreds of dancers your age, and we chose 12 that scored maybe only half a mark more than you".

Wow! I love the map, sophie_rebecca!

The pages are still jumping for me. It happens when I scroll to near the bottom of a page. The whole page jumps upwards so that the post above the final post on the page comes back into view too.

Hi - I'm reading the forum on an android phone. Since the system upgrade, the pages jump around during and after loading, as if images are being loaded and the scroll isn't anchored (although images aren't loading, as far as I can tell).

No question from me, I'm rather too familiar with this process @glissade 😂

Yes exactly
Sorry, I'm prob not understanding your question. Nobody gets MA/SA results until end of March .... it's even possible to get finals audition, then no offer, and then not an MA/SA place after that.

Yes but if you only tick Mids (and don't get that rare call to Finals even not having done so) you don't get your result for Mids until after WL Finals. So for example, DD2 auditioned on 20th Jan (London 1) and has not had a result and won't get one until March. Others may be in the same boat.
Even if you tick both boxes, the only results coming out right now are for fulltime vocational (WL) finals. The results for MA/SA aren't until end of March, at earliest.

I imagine your family's successful experiences of state education have more to do with the teachers who inspired you and your attitude to learning than they have with the fact your parents weren't paying extra for your education. If the teachers who inspire your son happen to be in a fee-paying school, then don't let the state vs private debate put you off ......

Would anyone be able to help with the article's request to take ballet into Kingswood Manor Nursing Home in Liverpool ..?

This article popped up in my news feed - wondered if anyone here could help (or is perhaps already involved?)?

(Just to clarify, I don't know any of the people mentioned in the article .... I'm only passing it on 🙂 )

Hi glissade,
RBS actually ask in the audition preparatory guidelines, that whilst new shoes are not necessary, clean ones are.
Hi Motomum - Thanks for pointing that out. I hadn't read the audition guidelines. Good job they obviously looked past them when they gave my daughter a final audition then 🙂
-
Aisha - I'm just curious. Do the other students at your ballet school call them "pumps" as well? I've only ever come across the term as fashion shoes, not ballet shoes.
-
It's okay - I didn't misread your post. It's the nature of discussions that original points get lost in the thread. Don't worry about it 🙂
-
Balletbean, feel free to disagree! As I said above, we didn't buy any new shoes and my daughter was comfortable in her usual canvas flats. It didn't stop her from getting a final audition at White Lodge, so I don't think it's necessary to buy new for every audition.
-
I only only speak from our own experience, which was that my daughter wore her usual canvas flats at the first audition and was still invited to a final audition at White Lodge.
-
My daughter will be wearing canvas flats and they will most likely be very far from being neat or clean! I really don't think the peripherals matter at all.
-
The problems were related solely to the availability of studio space - it meant that there had to be some changes to venues, but that's all.

Yes, BBA Devon has helped my child enormously. I have no doubt that parents from BBA London will say the same. If your child is still only 10 years old, I would say go with the easier travel arrangements 🙂 .
-
Looks great! Your Gran has good taste in ballet wear! Good luck with your performance!
-
Ballet Boost Devon is fantastic. Especially if you live in Devon. If you live closer to London, then I imagine Ballet Boost London would be your first choice ... for distance rather than quality of training.

Just to reiterate that the pages are still jumping for me. Every time I first scroll to the bottom of a page, it jumps up again. When I scroll down a second time, it remains. It's *really* annoying!!
