I've heard of a couple of young dancers that have been offered waiting list spots for White Lodge summer school. Anyone here had any luck? My DD is on the waiting list but hasn't heard anything one way or another yet.

Here's a link to the selection list which has all the candidates, their numbers, their schools & which variations they're performing. http://www.prixdelausanne.org/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/candidates-2.pdf

Congratulations to those who've been accepted! And well done also to those offered waiting list. My DD was also offered a position on the waiting list for WL week 2 We are in Australia so things are a little bit different here but my DD doesn't go to a full-time school. She just does ballet 2 nights per week & Saturdays. Sorry to blow your theory lol

Yes, I would love to see more of the action than last year too.

That will definitely be passed my bedtime then! I think that would be around 4-5am my time.

It's already the middle of the day on the 1st here in Australia. I hate having to wait for London to catch up before I can receive my email I wonder what time they will be sent? If they send them first thing in the morning, we will receive it before I go to bed tonight. Otherwise I can wake up in the morning & read everyone's news, including our own

I loved watching the live stream last year & am looking forward to catching some of it again this year. Good luck to all the Aussies!

My girls are 12 & 14, a few of their recent character solos have been a girl lost in the desert, Nikiya from La Bayadere, a girl at a grape harvest, a girl waiting up for Santa (this one was a nightmare for me with a Christmas tree & presents plus a table & chair etc for props). All of these solos have placed in eisteddfods. I'm also lucky that our teacher chooses the theme. Good luck choosing something that your DD & her teacher are happy with

This sounds like a reasonable theory. So when are the first round of auditions?

Only her & I would come. We just can't justify the expense for the whole family to come plus it's outside of school holidays so I wouldn't want to take the other girls out of school.

The wait is killing me. I realise the chance of my daughter being accepted is very low but if she was lucky enough to get in, we have to organise ourselves to get there from Australia. I'd love to know sooner rather than later! Speaking of which, for anyone who's children have been to the RBS summer school before, would you say it's worth the expense of international travel to go there? My daughter's only 12 so would only be doing 1 week at White Lodge if accepted. We'd probably be looking at around $8000 (AUD) for flights, airfares, accommodation & summer school.

Thanks Yes, I would come with her but the RBS website suggests that it needs to be a resident of the UK to be a guardian. I can certainly appreciate that it would be needed for international children that are attending schools (dance or academic) full-time but I thought that if I was staying in the UK with her for the 1 week she's at the summer school that it might not be needed. Anyway, I'm probably worrying about nothing because chances are she won't be accepted in the first place. I'm just a planner & like to have these sorts of things sorted in my own mind

I've just submitted my daughter's application for the 2016 summer school. We live in Australia & on the final confirmation page it said that all international students who receive an offer of a place, need to name a guardian resident in the UK. We don't know anyone in the UK so I was just wondering how we go about organising for someone to do this? Is there any other international families who have had experience with this? I know there's a high chance she won't get accepted & then I don't need to worry about it but I'd just like to have some idea on the off chance that she does get accepted. Thanks
