I always lose interest in Sleeping Beauty when the story ends. I can be roused from my nap by a good pair of cats, but other than that …

Didn’t we have this discussion recently?

Gosh, 10 is incredibly young. Does his teacher know he's walking about in them?
He’s not doing much and well within his capabilities, fear not. And he’s 11 now.

Oh, I didn't realise that. From the audience they all look the same. (I have zero practical/technical knowledge of ballet, so I read this area of the forum to try to find out something about it.)
It took me about three tries to get my elastics and ribbons right. Lots of variables and experiment.

Your 10 year old son dances on pointe?
Yes. Well, does basic exercises at the barre mostly, though he’s annoyingly capable of walking around on pointe while I can’t even get over my box properly. 🙄

When the 10 year old got pointe shoes the rule was that he was sewing them himself. Much easier to get children to learn when they're suitably motivated. (I can sew enough to do basic maintenance tasks and sort out pointe shoes, but it's not as if I was ever formally taught or would like anyone to look at my "handywork" close up.)

offensive and upsetting
This may be the lowest bar for offensive and upsetting I’ve ever seen.

We’re hardly regulars! She could have been having an off day, or maybe you just don’t get on with her as a teacher. I’ve known teachers who other people raved over that I couldn’t stand to be in the same room as.

I don't want to feel I've dismissed an outstanding teacher out of ignorance ...
We've done a number of workshops and some classes with her when in London and she's always been good. Good exercises and lots of useful corrections. Never any privates though, so can't speak of them.

We’ve stuck with teachers who are really good teachers, but don’t want to lose their pupils to other schemes and therefore don’t encourage outside participation, simply because there isn’t anyone better to take them to.
That's not really a teacher-student relationship in the sense I'm thinking of, it's just a place you go for classes.

We have been banned to participate in extra workshops, associate programmes even productions like EYB, LCB. I have always informed the teacher of our intensions to join extra activities (always away from school hours), but we have been declined the opportunity. Throughout the time i have found out that other classmates have been allowed to do extra, some even missed classes because their other commitments so i put my foot down and stop informing the teacher as clearly there was no one rule for all. Without my intervension my DD would missed out on a lot.
I’d get a new teacher.

I'd always inform their/our main teachers, and generally check their advice in advance. I'm not exactly asking permission, but I am giving them an opportunity to raise any issues they might have. I'd do the same with my main martial arts teachers too. If you don't value their opinion, why are you going to them in the first place?

And Act 3 is a completely different ballet. Tighter, more coherent and much better story telling without all the what I assume is heavy handed allegory.

Uh-huh.

I can only assume this is either bad humour or some sort of performance art.

Not at this time in his career, though!
I really can't see the RB carrying this one off
Do they even have enough boys to pull off the mass male scenes?

Act 2 just finished: the dancing is wonderful, even if the dance isn’t always my favourite.
I can’t shake the feeling of a Benny Hill/Monty Python vibe to the Romans that seems a bit heavy handed.

You did start when you were young! 😂

I’d say it was a very conscious choice to emphasise her raw strength - which most people have no idea of - as well as her grace. Especially given the context of the shoot.

Search Engine Optimisation, I suspect. That's the name people are most likely to search for her under.

strange that no credit is given to Stephen McRae.
It’s the first trailer. There will be others, I suspect.

Among the complaints are "why do they have visible breasts" and if you have seen the original costumes …
I'd guess those freaking out are people who weren't going to see it anyway, but that won't stop the studio bosses panicking.
-
It *is* a bit uncanny valley, but not terribly so. I suspect most of the complainants haven’t seen the original.

Living outside the U.K., I wouldn’t book tickets after October until we’re sure what the idiots running things are actually going to do - and in theory we should be covered by the Common Travel Area. If I was on the mainland I’d be even less inclined to do so.
