  1. Have you considered an online course?

There's an Australian one called Brunswick School of Dance. I have had a look at their promo video before and it looks good. Also it's an RAD syllabus, which is great for technique (we were advised to send DD to an RAD school by a friend who trained with RBS years ago, as that was the same advice her parents were given when she was a child-I'm not knocking other syllabi, just giving my own experience :-)).

I don't know anything about the cost of this Australian one, by the way, but as you have a barre at home, and presumably a little bit of space, this might suit you. You won't need to factor in travel time, which should take less time out from academic study, and keep Mum and Dad happy.

    Good luck!

  2. Thanks Balletmummy55, I will see what comes this week and then call if nothing. I had an email to acknowledge the original application form and they said they would be in touch in December to confirm details.

  3. Hello

I haven't heard from RBS yet regarding dd's WL/MA yr 7 audition. I had pencilled in 29th Jan, as on their website it said that was the day for WL and MA for girls for 11 yr olds. However, on the website, that date is now saying it's for 11yr old girls for MAs, with no mention of WL. WL 11 year old seem to have vanished from the list, and as I understand it, it's always one audition for both

I read on a recent thread that one lady's daughter was auditioning for WL and MAs on 25th, but she didn't state which year that was for. So now I'm confused!

Is anyone else in this position? I'd quite like some clarification as she has had to miss taking part in a competition that she was really keen to do on 29th January.

    Thanks all.

  4. Hello!

My dd has just had some rather stern feedback from a highly qualified and very experienced teacher. She said dd is very weak, needs to strengthen her core and really focus on basic technique.

I'm after advice (from the teachers here) about the best kind of exercises to do. She is auditioning for vocational school for Yr 7 this year, so we haven't got long.

Any tips/pointers/links to best core exercises for ballet would be massively appreciated.

    Many thanks.

  5. Hello everyone!

Sorry, I keep asking similar things!

What I really would like to know (from anyone with experience of both) is which is the better associate programme, LJB or YDA?

DD is at one and we have been offered the other. I want to make sure we are making the right decision if we change. She is 10, auditioning for vocational school next year.

Would any of you advise doing both? (I don't think this is an option financially, but wondered what thoughts you experienced parents may have).

Thank you all in advance :-).

  6. Hello everyone :-)

Are any of you (or your children) doing YDA Summer School next week? I haven't had any information from them other than an invoice, and want to make sure we are in the right place at the right time etc.

    Thank you in advance.

  7. Thank you Lilac. I did have a look at RAD, but was told by a lady whose daughters have done the residential ones, that they use teenagers as chaperones and the younger ones don't get any sleep! Not sure how true this is, but she said she wouldn't let her two be residential again because of it.

  8. Hello everyone

I've left it rather late to apply for Summer Schools this year, (RBS, Yorkshire) but I wondered if anyone had any recommendations that aren't full up?

We are in the South East, and my daughter is 10.

Any information would be gratefully received.

    Thank you!

  9. Still waiting...

Wondering if it's done alphabetically? Some of dd's friends from last year have heard. They are all "B" surnames, whereas we are about halfway through.

It's either that, or I've also done the second-class-stamps faux pas. Can't even blame the husband for that one, as it was me who sent off the application form.

    Hoping tomorrow brings good news...
