  1. Here: https://www.dr.dk/tv/se/opera-og-ballet-det-kgl-teater-tv/-/giselle-ballet-fra-det-kgl-teater#!/ it's posible to watch the ballet "Giselle" performed by RDB in November of 2016. In the beginning of the transmission Nikolaj Hubbe says welcome words and it's shown a piece of the workshop with the main performers, Ida Praetorius (Giselle) and Andreas Kaas (prince Albrecht). The record should be available for viewing for 7 days.

  2. I saw the final performance of Project Polunin yesterday, traveling to see it from Denmark (and I also paid for my ticket, though not the highest price) and I'm not disappointed at all, and I liked the most of the performance. To my mind, all dancers, including those from the second piece ("Tea or coffee") danced beautifully and made a lot of effort.

I was quite impressed by Serguei's performance in the " Icarus" part, and Osipova was superb!

Probably, the choreography isn't Serguei's cup of tea, at least not yet, but my opinion is that Project Polunin has reached it aim: presented the new works and new names; hopefully the young dancers engaged in this project will be noticed and given the opportunity to develop further their potential!

  3. I'm lookng forward to some performances I've already bought tickets to - "The Snow queen " by the National Finnish ballet this end of month in Copenhagen, "Jewels" in Copenhagen by RDB, and "Dangerous liaisons "of Cathy Marston by RDB. I'd love to come to London to see "Mayerling" and Mariinsky ballet and I am looking forward to Svetlana Zakharova's "Amore" in November.

Hopefully I'll get a chance to see the "Stravinsky evening" in Milano as I should be there during these dates.

  4. I happened to be last Saturday at "The Nutcracker" of the Paul Hamlyn Christmas treat - lucky for me, I managed to get the spare ticket at the entrance.

What a lovely performance it had been! It was the first time I saw sir Peter Wright's choreography and I liked it enormously. I saw it as having major reference to Christian traditions and values then the other "The Nutcracker" performances.

Meaghan Grace Hinkis was a lovely Clara and Valentino Zucchetti - a perfect Hans-Peter/Nutcracker. I also liked a lot Marcelino Sambe as Drosselmeyer's assistant - great jumps!

Everybody danced beautifully, especially Yuhui Choe as Rose fairy. The Sugar Plum fairy (Marianela Núñez), however, hadn't been at her top - or, what's more likely, was a bit unlucky: the Pdd was danced gloriously, but there was an unsteady moment at the beginning of the Sugar Plum fairy's appearance and then something happened with her petticoat - at least Vadim Muntagirov spent a couple of awkward moments doing something under her costume. He was, as expected, a brilliant partner!

In the whole, one of the best performances of the year!

  5. I was yesterday present at "Swan lake " performance and was charmed by Kizzy Matiakis interpretation of especially Odette. Great musicality with a lot of attention to the small detailes, lightness and precision - that was my impression from her dance! She and her partner, truly prince, Gregory Dean, showed a perfect partnership and understanding.

When Kizzy's on the scene, one can be sure to watch a complete involvement in the role and creation a veritable image. Well done, Kizzy! Congratulations!

Last year I witnessed the performance of Kizzy Matiakis and Jon Axel Fransson in the pdd from "Cacti" of Alexander Eckman at the summer concert of the Royal Danish ballet in Kolding (open air free of charge concert), here's my very amateur video to give an idea about her performance:

  6. I happened to be at the yesterday "Sleeping beauty" matinee performance and though I can't but praise the virtuosity of Herman Cornejo's dancing, I'd certainly appreciate a bit more feelings involved in his acting; it was quite a restrained and serious prince at the wedding - at least that was my impression. Sara Lane seemed to be much happier and smiled more as well.

We were a bit disappointed by the absence of fouettes - does anybody know why there was none of the famous 32 fouettes in yesterday performance? Did Ratmansky decide that they don't belong to the ballet or was it just a "special occasion"? I should confess I haven't seen many "SB" performances , but the last one I saw was in Berln, Nacho Duato's choreography and I do believe Iana Salenko (as Aurora) performed the fouettes there.

  7. Tonight was my first acquaintance with "The taming of the shrew", so I had nothing to compare it with, and I just liked everything enormously, both choreography, dancing, costumes and lights! Kristina Kretova is a superb, intelligent and indeed very beautiful dancer! True Katarina! She was a jewel of this performance, assisted of other great performers, Nina Kaptsova and Artem Ovcharenko were brilliant as well, I got the impression of a flawless performance, 2 hours just slipped away as one moment and I left with a strong wish to see this ballet again!

  8. I'm also excited about the possibility to see Cathy Marston's ballet in Denmark! As well as generally satisfied about the next season's content in RDB.

However there are still some interesting performances in the coming months in Denmark : "Don Quixote", for instance - and on the 7th of May Osiel Gouneo from the Norwegian ballet should dance Basil ! Also, "Come fly away" of Twyla Tharp or the free concerts of the RDB dancers all over Danmark in June and in July the concerts of so called Verdensballetten where the majority of dancers come from ROH:

  9. I'm also happy that I've found this forum for about a year ago. I live in western part of Denmark and sometimes it's cheaper for me to travel to London (thanks to Ryanair) than to Copenhagen or Hamburg. It's great to be able to get a hint of what is worth of seeing in ROH, etc. ( though I would say - everything!) Thanks a lot to all those who share their opinions and suggestions!
