  1. Hello vmmom

I think we will be seeing you here too

My daughter is doing both royals and Paris opera we must be doing the same weeks

My dd will be in the junior class as she's only 10

That will be nice knowing someone from her first summer school

    Take care

Life, this is awesome! My daughter was in the junior class last year.

This year she is doing both week1 and 2, and we will "commute" to London from Paris ;) .

  2. Hello. I am new here and thankful for a place to ask questions! My daughter is on the wait list for Paris Opera. Has anyone had any luck with being called off the wait list? We are spending the summer in France so my daughter will not be dancing with another program. We are just keeping our fingers crossed. Would anyone that has been accepted mind sharing the list of what they ask the dancers to bring? I would like to pack for our trip & take along everything she needs just in case and not have to do any last minute shopping in France.

    Thank you!

    Janice

Hi Janice. The Paris Opèra Ballet School called two girls from my daughter's school from the WL right after the first results popped out. I hope some places can be available if someone declined at the very last minute (yesterday was the payment dead end).

The most unpratical thing to pack in the trousseau are the bed stuff (blanket, sheets and pillow ) who are very bulky, expecially if you travel with only one luggage as we did last year ;)

  3. Balletmummy55, we got the same mail yesterday.

Life (and Sparle2015), my daughter is 12 and she is in week 2 WL too.

We can have a drink the night before, if you want, 'cause I booked the same hotel for the entire week! We are from Italy.

Irishballetmom, Congratulation to your daughter! I remember you from last summer ;)! My daughter was also selected for the ABT program in Texas. We declined mainly because the mail arrived the night before the dead end! :o ...insane...

  4. My daughter was accepted to WL Week 2.  Unfortunately she had to turn it down.  So, there is definitely at least one spot available.  I hope it goes to someone here!

So sorry... :( How old is your daughter? I think the wait list is divided by age...

  5. What terrific news. Congratulations. Are all the classes going to be taught in the French language?

Last year my daughter was able to learn some very basic French too ;). She was in a room with two English-speaking girls so she refreshed her English! The class was directed in both languages (mainly French) but since all the ballet terms are in French she was fine. She was in Junior class.

  6. vmmom...congratulations to your daughter on attending last year! Last year, did POB also set a date when they would notify applicants of results? And if so, were they pretty firm with that date or was notification given before/after? We have looming deadlines for deposits at other programs, all before the POB stated date of 2/12.

Thanks Spencedance. They set the same date (February 12th) but due to the "tremendous amount" of applications they set a new date (February 17th). I hope this year they will send the results on time, I have a deadline too!

  7. I'm breathing again after the news of yesterday. My daughter applied for the second year. Last year we got a PWL and a place on May, when we already had all the Summer Intensives scheduled, so we declined.

Her friend, who had a straight no last year, is in WL (and got the 3 confusing emails too)

    Everyone improved.

    Don't give up!

  8. That's not how they do things, there is no audition for the summer school. It is all done from the applications + photos.

Perhaps someone attended last year and was invited back again?

I mean she was audictioned by application form...this is impossible, the form is on line since September 18th! ;)

Speaking about SI application form, is it possible to apply for two weeks if you are 12 yo?

  9. Please don't tell me they have a dress code!!

I'm already in trouble with the ODP's last mail about "trousseau" (linens, pillow and douvet...we need a truck to transport! :o) and pale pink leotards (and my daughter doesn't like that colour.. ...)
