  1. Also bear in mind that the school AD chooses the casting for school performances and the company AD Selects  for a spot in the company, so may have different tastes or opinions. Plus companies may choose a certain type of dancer to fit the company.
There are many reasons not least the choice  of the student as other people have said, who may prefer a definite place as an artist of another company where they may get more opportunities sooner at another company than royal.

I think I recall Tamara Rojo saying after graduating she deliberately chose a spot in a smaller company first as she thought she was more likely to get a chance to dance soloist roles and get promotion sooner.

Well what else to do with the temp outside at 33 degrees than be in a coolish  room looking at Raymonda videos to sort out which music goes with variation 2 and which with 3 to decide who danced which variation at RBS show!!!
The slower variation music is variation 3 ….so this was Chaeyeon Kang you were right Alison!
You’d be surprised though that these variations are not always in the same order or even the same music used with other companies but in the process caught a fabulous Raymonda main variation from Lopatkina that I’ve not seen before and the gorgeous “dream variation” in Act one from Smirnova and Khoreva which has some similar choreography to variation 3 in Act 3 and that lovely music of course.
Anyway I would have saved myself a lot of time if I had just googled the two dancers as it was obviously Kang whose variation I had particularly liked on Saturday.
She went to the Royal Ballet school after winning a prize at the 2020 Prix de Lausanne….she was only 15 then so only 17 possibly just 18 now.
Definitely one of those to watch for the future though so much talent in this years graduates too and at least ten of them staying in UK.
Hopefully will find out where the others are going soon too …I wonder if any have joined ENB this year?

Postie …you may be correct as on my 2019 cast list only individual names are listed for White Lodge years 10 and 11 and then the Upper School students.
I suppose year 10 might only be 15 but names are mentioned in the piece “Bottega”

But where years 7 8 and 9 are concerned names are not mentioned.

Chaeyeon Kang has just completed second year at the school so won’t graduate till next year. We saw her dance at opera Holland Park and she definitely caught our eyes

  3. If the dream is to dance in top professional ballet companies around the world then it has to be rbs. Look at their graduate destinations year on year.

Academically the upper school students undertake a BA hons degree in classical ballet context and also do another study stream alongside which can be an a level or epq.

It’s extremely competitive to get into with the international prize winners and top students from around the world as well as white lodge students taking most of the places.

    Good luck!

Exactly the same with my dd. She knows of many who have been to a local school and an excellent associate scheme outside of royal who have gained places at the top upper schools over the girls at white lodge in year 11. Just want to reassure everyone it’s not the end of the world 💗

Massive Congratulations to those with yeses and waitlists, and please please please if your DC has got a no, this doesn't have to be the end of their dreams. DD didn't ever make WL finals. She got an MA place for y9 and trains with an excellent after school pre-professional school (not a full time vocational school).

She is in y11 now and has got finals for RBS upper as well as other top schools in Europe. She has worked very hard, never taken anything for granted and never given up. A no for year 7 is most definitely not the end.

We’re International, but received an email Monday saying they’d be delayed a bit longer. I was under the impression all UK-based applicants had been contacted

Yes emails came out on monday for UK applicants and some international applicants have had their results also, as they have posted on this topic.

We received email on Monday that they are trying to figure it out, that international will not be at the in person auditions. In person date for upper school on website is March 27.  Maybe I am connecting dots. But Email was clear that they are looking at alternatives that would still be fair even though international applicants would not attend in person in London on 27th.  Maybe it depends what country you are from???

Yes that is what our email said. Congrats to your dd too!

From what I have read here, and also my DD just heard interview with Claudia Dean ( which was years ago) somewhere in the 30 to 50 range.  And they take maybe 3 on a good year? International applicant finals will be virtual, so not sure how many that is.

    Congrats to your DD!

    Thank you!

  8. Hi VivianGrace

The email said first day was audition class and second was medical and physio.

Not sure how long the results will take.

They don't have boarding but I think a lot of students rent shared accommodation and I think the school help them co-ordinate this. I would email the school and ask for more info on this.

    RBS has boarding yes.

You can find a list of destinations of graduates from ENBS on their website.

Good luck with it all - particular if you are travelling from abroad for the audition at the moment, is that possible with all the travel restrictions currently in place? The email said if you couldn't attend in person due to travel restrictions they will provide a zoom audition I think.

  9. As finals are cancelled this year instead there is a virtual scholarship round for those invited to finals. RBS are one of the partner schools listed on the scholarship form finalists have to fill out as part of the virtual scholarship process.

They haven't attended YAGP finals for a few years but it appears that was changing this year, until CV-19 prevented the finals taking place in New York.

The RBS did not attend YAGP that year.

YAGP has increased the age requirement/recommendation for when soloists dance en pointe.  Maybe that allowed the relationship to rekindle.

Yes, it seems to be the case DD Driver.
