  1. But, on a marginally more serious note, and referring to Fonty and Bridiem’s posts, like you, I get frustrated by illogical acts. In detective series, the unaccompanied and unarmed female detective always goes into the darkened house, without waiting for back up, without switching on the lights and carrying a small torch in a ridiculous style. I’m always shouting at the tv when that happens!

    So, I understand coherence.

Of course you have to suspend belief in the real world when reading or watching these things, but any work of fiction has to have its own logic.  Doesn't matter whether the story deals with fairies, magicians, aliens, time travel or anything else that doesn't actually exist (as far as we know).  The characters have to be believable, and the story has to make sense within that fictional world.  Otherwise, it's a failure as far as I am concerned!

I’m sure my fairy godmother will sort me out - probably with a wave of her wand 😀

God, this is such awful news.

So sorry for the people who will miss the show and the cast and the company, as if the past couple of years haven't been bad enough, and so much of their revenue comes from The Nutcracker.

Also such a shame for those who were making the SPF debuts too (and all debuts). I think a few were due last year and were cancelled then too.

Just a shame all round. Can't believe we're finding ourselves back here again.

It’s different this time round. The last closure was a result of the Government’s lockdown. This time it’s in response to the health of the dancers and support staff.

Really liked the fight scene between dancers of the company.  Is it shorter than pre-pandemic version?  Or am I imagining things.

It's very good - but different.

For my part, and I’m probably engaging my 'inner child', I very much miss the White Lodge 'rats'; stabbing with their swords whilst twirling their tails, the two mice bringing on a stretcher to carry off their injured colleague and, at the end, struggling under weight of the mouse king as he topples into their arms and is carried off stage by them.

So, good though the current ‘lockdown' version is, I (and probably most children) look forward to their return 😯
