  1. Congrats to everyone who has received the result they were hoping for. Has anyone received WL London Yr7 results yet? Is it just Birmingham and Manchester DC who have received results to date?
  2. I heard that they inform all the auditionees from all the centres at approximately the same time, which is why there is such a long wait for those who audition at the first centre. As all the auditions are now complete, hopefully it won't be long at all until everyone finds out. So tough on those who go first though! If they have been waiting for almost 3 weeks then it makes sense that they are judging the final auditionees from London before informing anyone. Fingers crossed for today!
  3. Thanks again for all the helpful comments. If I can get DD into another modern class I will, however, given the timetable clash this could be challenging. Does anybody have any thoughts on a JA doing gymnastics for one hour a week? It would be nothing serious but a good run around. I have heard that ballet and gymnastics are not a recommended combination, but does this apply more to older children and not such a concern for an 8 YO?
  4. Hi Scoobydoo, my DD is doing 32 lessons. Her class is 12pm - 2.15pm. Is that the same as yours? Is your daughter doing any dancing other than ballet?
  5. Thank you - that is all really helpful. I will try and find a modern class that she can do as she really enjoys this and it's good for general fitness but I'm not going to worry about tap. I will also speak to her teacher at the RBS as there may be specific areas which she would benefit from working on. Thanks again.
  6. Thank you so much for your reply legsevelen. My DD will definitely continue with grade ballet, netball and swimming as I totally agree with everything you were saying re. general fitness, teamwork and also variety. However, from reading various forums, I get the impression that many girls of a similar age do hours and hours of dancing a week, and not just ballet. While I don't want my daughter burning out, nor do I want her to be at a disadvantage because I haven't helped to prepare her properly. How important is it to do modern, tap and any other forms of dance in addition to ballet in order to help her become the best ballet dancer she can be? As a slight aside, while her physique is clearly what the RBS are looking for at the moment, given she is only 8, this could change dramatically and ballet may no longer be be an option. I worry that she may be pigeon holed in something which she is no longer built for but has no/little experience in other dance forms. Any opinions on this matter would also be appreciated. Thank you
  7. Hello everyone, I'm hoping someone can help with this. My 8 YO DD has been offered a place as a JA in Covent Garden this September. As I'm sure many if you know, the class is on a Saturday which means the activities she currently does on that day she can no longer do. We therefore need to rethink what she does and when in terms of activities outside of school. She currently does swimming, school netball and grade ballet after school. She wants to carry on doing modern which currently does on a Saturday but I'm interested to hear what other people think would most compliment ballet and any activities or different types of dance are essential if she wants to maximise the opportunity she has been given at RBS. Thank you in advance.
